I recently attended Apex CDL institute in Desoto Kansas. It was a great experience and easily passed the DMV. They actually train you on full sized trucks with sleepers, Eaton 10 speed transmissions and full sized box vans. They also give you drive time in Metro KC so that you get a little real world driving experience before you test. They have quite a few recruiters that come in and talk to you also. I know they didn't make me a professional but they gave me the tools to get a job and become a professional driver.

Thats all they are supposed to do. You check out Trans Am in Olathe? Good starter company good equipment, automatic trans and tractors are loaded with fridge, 2500 watt inverters, APUs for AC and heat. Start at 30cpm and I think they now offer tuition reimbursement. I would recommend that you go company driver and do not lease. Learn on their dime, not yours. Best of luck. No I am not a recruiter but being asked to be one. Best wishes Huck!
huckaberry3 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the lead. I have applied at a local company. It looks pretty promising as they were happy with the school. If it doesn't work out I will be applying there (trans am)and many more places. If it comes to that I will work almost anywhere that I do not have to tarp loads due to previous injuries. Is their company training worth a darn?

There was another member on here that was thinking of going there....never heard back from him.
Glad it worked out for you.
You have a big advantage in the KC area with so many local choices available. Most areas local companies require 1-2 years experience.
Good luck, keep the rubber side down.
