I work for Gordon about four years and my final days were hell. They were a good company when i first started but less than 6 months later our wages got frozen put on hold. there excuse was they needed to cut back in order to keep in business. they turn down the trucks from 63 to 59 mph in my case
and my miles drop. soon they started buying all these brand new trucks refiting there trailer spending a furtune and kept telling us our wage freeze was nessary ect ect. they bought cascade trucking out promised the drivers
many things but what really happen wages were cut and many driver were let go due to many issues including medical issues. If you need a repair it must be done at one of the shops they dont care if your air conditioner craps out your sol. The shops are always over booked and you could speend up to 5 days for a simple repair. good luck in getting a motel. they rather slip seat you and put you into a dirty scummy truck with another driver belongings and keep you out a few days or up to 3 weeks hoping to get back your truck with all your stuff still in it. they have the slowest otr truck in the nation as far as i know and there miles suck. they will not wash there trucks but you have to pay out of your own pocket to wash them company policy in so many words. they love giving you load that should have been pick up one to two day earlier giving you little lime to eat shower or do anything else except stress yourself out getting the load where it needs to go. Another major issue they have is locating a empty trailer hey have no idea where there at many time i spent up to 3 hrs looking for a trailer wasting my hrs in doing so. there are no perk at gordon no safety or fuel bonus no holiday pay good luck getting your detention pay. they do have a medical plan but its a bottom of the barrel plan.
Yes i have said a lot and im sure there will be some who will bash what i said i dont care every thing i said is true. Im going to a much better compainy appears to be more driver oriented and i looking forward to the new chance.

If a company don't reimbirse me for washing their trk even though im living in it and getting paid slve wages, well then the trk will stay dirty, makes no difference to me.I think governing trks that slow to 59 is crazy. You need extra speed for hills. My trk is 57 but im a local driver.OTR no way would I drive for a company with 59 mph trks. It's like how can I get anywhere. So if Gordon froze your wages, did they do the same to the inside staff or is it only you drivers that took the hit?I would'nt like to use somebody elses trk or somebody useing mine while a trk is getting repaired,I would hate that. With every company it's all about them, heck with drivers.

my husband and I used to team with GTI and yeah we were thinking it would be good when we were at orientation. the trouble started immediately out of orientation when we went to pull our truck out, it was raining- ON THE INSIDE! then we couldnt find an empty trailer, they sent us on a goose chase (which often happened) we went driving forever to try here and there for trailers. then as a team, they stuck us in California. 55mph, in traffic, our miles SUCKED. we made like 40,000 TOTAL for the two of us for the 9 mos we were with them. and when we wanted to get out, they screwed with us and screwed with us and totally pissed us off. oh, and you're right about the mechanic shops, i was told by one of the mechanics at Pacific they LOVE to pull the drivers in for inspection and fail them, and if they driver gets mad they think its FUNNY. they sit you for days on end with no pay while you wait for your truck to be fixed. would never do Gordon again...

Well don't expect the truth from a recruiter. Talk to drivers. You have a head start on that with the posts above yours.

Interesting...I have talked wth two longtime drivers for Gordon. One of whom had teamed with his wife for years. Neither of them had anything remotely similar to report regarding working for Gordon. In fact, quite the opposite.

Just shows that everyone can have a different opinion of any one company out there. While company "A" is a complete nightmare for one person, it is the greatest place to work for another.

For newbies, perhaps the best advice I have taken from this site is...

Do your own homework. Find a company that seems it will fit your personal needs and desires the best..at least for starters.

Check out the input regarding the company on this site. However, take it with a grain of salt and not as gospel.

Make your own informed, final decision...then suck it up, stick it out and power through that very important first year. After that, if your company isn't all you thought it would be, re-evaluate, regroup and move on to another perhaps better situation for yourself and your family. Again, don't base your decision soley upon anyone elses experiences with another company.

But above all, be an adult and remain a true professional because that is what this industry needs.

I live in the NW and have spoken to multiple drivers, Most 8 out of 10 have given praise to GTI, Everyone has their own (experience) It is what you make it. Id join GTI over Knight, Swift, CR,....... The list goes on. They do drive Those nasty Shakers although the drivers that ive talked to their Shakers are maintained.

Every recruiter lies, no different then a ghetto car sales men. They are broke if they dont make a "sale" I bet those mormons (cult leaders) at CR make a killin. from dumb ##### people. GTI has not resorted to that level. That says somethin

    .
Why GTI drivers lie about the truth is perplexing. Guess they are happy to have a job and don't want to rock the boat. I live right between GTI and IDC and I know for a fact you will not spend days in a IDC shop for simple repairs and I also know they washed my truck when I worked there at least 1 time every 2 weeks. Oh and by the way my x worked in CS at GTI before they cut pay and turned the trucks down and told me just what the office staff think of the drivers that del the frt that pays their checks.

I would drive a cab on the graveyard shift around Hill Top before I would work for the GTI crew- then again if you like a lot of hand holding and micromanaging GTI might just suit you fine- If a driver is praising a company that has them footing the bill for things the company should pay for, they ain't to bright anyway.
