I have been running b.f. 244 on my steers for the last 3-4 sets. they ride good, wear good. I get about 140,000 miles from them. I saw some goodyear tires on another truck recently & they looked like they had quite a bit more rubber than the b.f's. was looking to increase my miles on my steers. any opinions on g.y. steers? I do not remember the number on the sidewall of the tire.

I have had better luck with Goodyear 399 steers than any other brand of tire. I am always around 12,400 on the steers, so I went with the load range H tires, which many companies do not have or stock.

I don't have good luck with goodyear or firestone. I like continental HSL2 steers. Your 244's are OK but I like the HSL2 better.

Yeah, saw them on a lot of trucks & never really heard a bad word about them. But mine within 60-70k miles were junk(14 ply). Replaced with 16 ply Michelin XZA3's & nowhere near enough miles on them to know anything.

One of the alignment shop guys said his family runs trucks & they could not find a steer with a better cost per mile than your BFG ST244.

I've got GY G399's and really like them. Best steer I've ever had on this truck. 110K and counting. I'll need new ones in another 5 or 10K miles but only because I didn't rotate around 50,000 or 60,000 like I should have... ...I think they would have lasted at least 135K with rotation. I run heavy on the steer axle also 12,500 many times, so I went with load range "H" 16 ply also. Most 14ply tires would only last about 85K on this truck before that, tried brodgestones and yokos, had one set of yoko's go to 110K but they were knotted up badly.. These G3999's are wearing almost smooth as silk, never seen any tire do that on steers with any truck I've had. I like them, next set going on is G399's 16 ply again.. ..and they'll get rotated this time.

I couldn't get Goodyear drive tires to last very long before they split the sidewall. Can't blame me for hitting curbs, the tires all split in between the duals :biggrin_25522:

I have a set of Michelin XZA3+ on the steers with 210957 miles on them. Should get another 50000 out of them before they run out of tread.

Do you rotate them & if so how often? Also, do you break them off the rim & keep the direction the same? Was told by Loves that their recommendation from Michelin was the first 25% of the tire wear, you need to break them down to rotate, but after that it did not matter. Just curious, because man I would love this set to go even 80% of what you got going on.
