The old 10 speed is getting really weird, I'm probably going to need some serious repairs on it. Noisy in all gears except for 9tg for some reason, and now it started making a rhythmic ticking/coughing sound like a dog panting... so I'm nursing it home on I-5, 9th gear, 50mph, annoying everybody.

Any recommendations in Sacramento CA area? Transmission shop, or just a good general mechanic?

And if this thing is completely kaput, how much are remanufactured Transmissions?

only a general idea on reman transmissions prices, can be given. you may have options to install a 13 speed, maybe an 18 speed, etc. each of course will be differently priced, and the labor charges no one knows for sure the going rates.

No idea in that area. But 9 is direct and straight thru the trans. Power flow for other gears is thru counter shafts. You need a shop.

Sorry I can not recommend one out there.

Oooh, a 13 speed! I hadn't thought of that, that would be kind of cool.
Don't care about the 18 speed though, nobody needs that many gears. The only extra gears I kinda wish for would be like 9.5 and 11.

Yeah. I kind of figured that. At least I still got my 9th that I can use without destroying things further

I kind of figured, but so far in 9th it's being really peaceful and quiet. It doesn't sound like it's Eaton itself :)

Eaton manual transmissions are pretty straightforward. No real need for a specialty shop, any competent shop should be able to handle an overhaul.
