Ok here's my thoughts on this. Based on what you want and remember that right now the frieght sucks. Like I have never seen it in 15 yrs. So no one is going to have great miles.

WSE is good. When I worked for them they had a really good S.E. fleet. Lot of frozen stuff, Meds, some packaged meat, Dairy stuff. Nice trucks but with 10 speed EF Autos. the one problem I had with them. I like my stick.

MAY sucks all the way around. So stay away from them. See the post on MAY for more info if you want.

Knight Refrigerated is good. Don't confuse them with Knight Trans. Two different companies. They have nice trucks 3yrs or newer. good frieght, For the times. And they take pretty good care of the drivers. They will let you plan your own routs and fuel stops. It's non-forced dispatch and you can choose to get paid daily/weekly/monthly.

Like was saaid before. be warry of companies tha will pay big $$. They are doing it because they have never had great miles.

companies spend there money one of two ways. newer trucks or better pay.
You have to desided which is more inportaint to you. A little less pay for a new truck that will run OR more pay and a POS that may break down at any minut.

    I beg to differ.
They are the same company, just a differant divison. Go to thier website.
Knight Refigerated was formally known as Edwards Bros. Trucking, based in my home town in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
They mainly just used to run produce from Idaho with potatoes to the coast, freash produce back. They also use to haul cattle, but got out of that in the early 80s'.

Knight Trans, wanted to get in to reefers, and they happend to see Edward Bros. on the market. Thus they bought them, and in turn, got rid of a lot of great people in the office, brought in thiers from Phoenix.

Haven't heard anything bad or good about Knight Refr.Other than they do / did drive pete 379's. Have yet to see what they went into since the 379 no longer is built.

Well I would guess that you never worked for Knight Refrigerated. If you had you would know they ARE two different companies. Not divissions, Companies. May Trucking has two divisions. Dry and refer. They drive the same trucks, Use the same log books and use the same tripsheets. Knight Refrigerated and Knight Trans. do not. They have two different colors on ther trucks. One is red the other gun metal grey. They use diferent log books and different tripsheets. Infact if you try to use logs or tripsheets from the other company you will not get paid. They even have there own DOT numbers. now if that dosen't say "different companies" I don't know what dose. They have there own HQ and Company Presidents. Now they are owned by the same parent co. Knight Trans INC.

Now it is true that Knight Refrigerated started from the ashes of EB. As with anytime one company buys another there where some personal changes. But alot of the people working at the Idaho Falls yard (which is the yard I drive out of) are from EB. Inclueding the Term Mng , OP Mng. Safty Officer, and at lest 2 DM's. I even think the Shop Mng and the #itch that works for him are from EB.

They still have some 379's. They alos drive the 378? Looks like a 379 but with funny lites. The 387 and the VN 670. All have the Cummings ISX 400 with a EF 9 speed. I have the VN 670. Nice truck.

Um, I don't know what they told you but this is right from the website of Knight Refrigeration.....your company/division was born from Knight Transporation you are a division/subsidary of the larger company....sorry. Mods since computer savvy is not mine adjust this anyway you have to if direct posts aren't allowed.

An opportunity to be the best.

Knight Refrigerated began in July of 2004 when we identified a need in the temperature-controlled market. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Knight Transportation, we are a growth-oriented company that is always looking for ways to serve new customers. Expanding into the refrigerated segment was a natural and successful extension of our dry van truckload business.

Ok, i will put my input in here. There are two companies that hual reefer, and have been around longer then most of even the big gunns as some call them. both are out of the Grand Rapids, MI area.
    1. M.C. Van Kampen
    2. Van Erden(sp)

Both companies have some of the best equipment of any company out there(KW W900L, T-600/660 with 86" sleepers, 379 Petes, 387 Petes, loaded). They have strong running lanes, good pay as well. Van Kampen is also big into the custom trucks as well. Have meet alot of thier drivers on the road as well as here in G. R. and one of the things they are known for, is rewarding drivers with good work ethics, on time del, safe, clean dmv, is a new custom company truck. these are show quality trucks. meet one guy, he was with them 6mths, driving a killer KW900L orange and white with all the crome, custom stacks, and bling in and out that 95% of us drivers cant afford to do to our own trucks. So if your looking for a killer reefer company, look at one of those two, they did something right. They both been around for 40+ yrs and are still going strong even in these hard times. ok, im done, thanks

Your right. Like Sams club and Walt-mart. Same Corp. office DIFFERT company HQ's. Owened by the same CORP. but differts companies. Just ask any Knight Trans. Drive and he'll tell you he wishes he worked for Knight Refrigerated. They have to quit and wait 3mos. and then apply with Knight Rerfrigerated like any one else. Now if they are just 2 different halfs of the same. Why would they have to do that??:biggrin_2554:

Just wondered why FFE and Lisa haven't been mentioned .. are they that bad? or just no one on here has experience there? Any thoughts? They're 'dog friendly' so that interests me.

    Thanks!

My advice is, "Go where the work is."Royal in Ripley NY, pay is good, 84 hrs of work a week and KWs w/500hp and automatic. Run W NY to MI and as far S as Al and MD a lot. My bro worked for them and he's 59 and said it was a good job for someone who wanted to run. Good equipment. Roberts in Erie Pa is hiring too and I think they run terminal to whse as they own wharehouses but not sure. Run Int. and dryvan, flats and reefers.

Never heard of a Cummings engine. New one I guess.

I quit flying years ago. I don't want to die with tourists.
