I am looking for a good diagnostic software that I can download onto my laptop. I have a J Pro Scanner adapter as well as a Nexiq USB two scanner adapter. Just wanting something to where I could plug into the truck, assess issues, and do a regen if necessary. Trying to find the best software for the money. With licensing fees being so high, just trying to keep a little in my pocket.
Good diagnostics software

I'm not very good with computers. I bought insite and jpro from him and he put it in my computer for me. He had me download something and he took over my laptop remotely and I watched him install the programs. They work perfectly.

I needed insite for a 2016 t880 isx15

If you are looking to set up with a JPRO scanner adapter and a Nexiq USB 2 scanner adapter and are focused on a cost-effective solution, here are some software options that may suit your needs:
1. Diesel Laptop PF Diagnostics
Compatibility: Works well with Nexiq USB 2 and other adapters.
Features: Provides trouble code diagnostics, troubleshooting guides, and the ability to perform regenerations on a variety of engine types, including PACCAR, Cummins, and Caterpillar.
Cost: One-time purchase with optional low-cost annual updates.
Pros: No expensive recurring license fees make it a budget-friendly option. Designed for simplicity, it's perfect for fleet maintenance.
2. JPRO Professional
Compatibility: Fully compatible with JPRO and Nexiq adapters.
Features: Full system diagnostics, bi-directional control, regeneration capabilities, and support for multiple truck brands and engines.
Cost: High acquisition cost due to annual subscription fee for updates.
Pros: Industry standard tool with comprehensive coverage, but can be a bit pricey due to licensing costs.
3. DTC Solutions Plus
Compatibility: Works with Nexiq USB 2 and other standard adapters.
Features: Designed to diagnose and clear trouble codes. Limited features compared to the full suite, but includes important features such as regeneration.
Cost: Affordable with minimal ongoing costs.
Pros: Perfect for users who primarily need to clear codes and perform regenerations without performing a full system diagnostic.
4. Cummins INSITE (Lite Version)
Compatibility: Perfect for Cummins engines, works with Nexiq USB 2.
Features: Comprehensive diagnosis and regeneration for Cummins engines.
Cost: Lite version with basic features is cheaper. License cost is less than retail version.
Pros: Better Cummins specific diagnostics at lower cost than full version.
5. Texa Truck Software
Compatibility: Works with Nexiq USB 2 and supports a wide range of trucks.
Features: Provides diagnostic and regeneration capabilities for a wide range of engines.
Cost: One-time purchase with optional updates.
Strengths: Broad coverage and good cost-to-feature ratio, but can be more expensive than PF Diagnostics.
Recommendation:
PF Diagnostics has proven to be the best option for your needs. It is affordable, has the features you need, like regeneration and fault code diagnosis, and helps you avoid expensive license fees. Because you already have a compatible adapter, you should be able to get started right away without a large upfront investment.
If you need more comprehensive diagnostics and don't mind a slightly higher cost, Texa Truck software could also be a good choice.
Either option will help you effectively manage your fleet while keeping costs down.
