I start School on Monday at TDI in Oxford, AL. Lord Willing, I'll have my CDL with Tanker and Hazmat by the End of November. Been doing research to try & decide my first employer. So far I am looking at:

Decker Truck Lines-Flatbed & Refer. Terminal in Bessemer
    Schneider-Tanker
    Tidewater Transit
    Trimac
Prime-Flatbed & Refer. Would like to do Tanker, but not in hiring area.
    Transport America
Heartland Express-heard they hire newbies, but haven't confirmed it yet.

Any help or company suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you get your hazmat, make sure to get your TWIC also. Most tanker/hazmat companies require that, if you go that route.

That's right. Google for nearest TWIC office. Any of those tanker companies will be good. You'll make good money right out of school with tankers.
Many companies bend their hiring criteria for a good applicant. If a website has "experience required", apply anyway. Many drivers start their career with a top notch company by doing this.
    Tidewater Transit
    Schneider Bulk
    Trimac Transportation
    Wiley Sanders - dry bulk

For long haul trucking, look at companies with nice trucks set up for driver comfort.

Other than tankers, look at these:
    Melton Truck Lines - flatbed
Keim TS - flatbed w/studio sleepers
    Jordan Carriers - flatbed
    Britton Transport - flatbed/van/reefer
Freymiller - "Restore Program" on the website is for new cdl grads. This is one of the top refrigerated carriers for new cdl grads.
Magnum Ltd. - top notch refrigerated carrier.
    Tyson Foods - refrigerated
    B&G Supply - refrigerated based in Albertville,AL
Contract Freighters Inc. - (www.cfidrive.com) - coast to coast dry van.
    Titan Transfer - dry van
Danny Herman Trucking - dry van & no Northeast. Mostly west coast/Texas and stay below I-40.

You probably won't hear about any of these companies in cdl school. Submit applications during the first week of school; don't wait any longer. This way you have plenty of time to look over the job offers and choose the one that has what you want.
Tell your classmates about these jobs; they won't hear about them in cdl school.

    Benny Whitehead -Eufaula Al
    Boyd Bros - Clayton Al
    Wiley Sanders -Troy Al
All 3 hire new drivers last I checked.
I've heard good things from all 3 of those companies. And know a few people that have worked for them. I would have picked one of them but I didn't have the money to fork out to get my CDL on my own.
I went with Roehl Transport national flatbed.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
