I'm thinking...if you need a sticker on your driver side mirror to remind you that maybe you should Get Out And Look first...perhaps you should maybe consider another line of work.

Or do companies get an insurance discount for putting these on all their trucks?

There are a plethora of stories from drivers who had close calls and were glad they got out and looked. Have you had an experience where you're glad you didn't get out and look? Probably not but who knows.

    Thoughts/comments?

i think its just part of the safety program....there are even such stickers on the dashboards as well that i have seen.

i was watching an old movie last night, where 2 (regular)cops were in an armored car.....(they were doing an undercover detail)

the signs "stenciled" inside the rear of the armored car said, "is that your partner that just walked in?"

i think that if a stranger walked in, the other armored car guard would have known that.....but for "safety sake, and security?" they were all inside that truck.

I must admit I do wonder sometimes if they mean for you to make it standard procedure to look every single time you back into a hole to "get out and look". As my handle implies I drive for quickway and every truck has that sticker on the drivers mirror.

If in doubt, climb your butt out....

Really though,If i know i have room and can see it clear in both mirrors i don't get out.
The usual get out and look for me is at night having to blindside behind a grocery store to hit the dock.

Now my new job will be no docks so i probably will not have to worry about it much..

It's that child like mentality. Like you are backing up and you aren't quite sure, but that sticker just haunts you, so you give in and GOAL. Or you start backing and whoa, thank god that sticker reminded me, I forgot how to drive for a second. :)

They need more acronyms on the mirror like
    POTS, put on turn signal
and of course then you need
    TOTS, turn off turn signal
    and maybe
    DOT, deliver on time....
    HOW, Hold onto wheel

Then you wreck because you can't see out your mirror. :)
