I was pre-hired with US Xpress, but I am reading they lost their pre-pass because of a poor CSA BASIC score, and so drivers are now getting pulled into the weigh station for extra attention and inspections by law enforcement/DOT inspection officers.
When I check the CSA BASIC site, US Xpress has a flag on the unsafe driving metric. They also have pretty bad driver fitness and vehicle maintenance metrics. The SAFER site has a statement that "based on that data, FMCSA may prioritize a motor carrier for further monitoring".

I like the company in general, but am concerned that my personal CSA or PSP score, or DQF (Driver Qualification File), or whatever, will be brought down with this extra scrutiny at the weigh stations. That the odds of my getting DOT citations will increase in direct proportion to the increase of my proximity with DOT officers.
Finally, I am reading in a industry publication aimed at transportation senior management types, that driver job hopping is "slowing significantly" because drivers can't move once they have accumulated some problems with their personal CSA scores, this because of tighter hiring standards that companies are now using. If that is the case, then I guess it is more important than ever to get with a company from the start that will protect your CSA score, or one that you don't mind getting trapped with for several years.

So should these concerns stop me from going to US Xpress?
Go to company with bad CSA BASICS score?

The unsafe driving is purely the fault of the drivers. Where I am we are "flagged" there too, due to stupid drivers making stupid choices. You cannot fault a company for what it's drivers choose to do.
bzinger and NonEstFactum Thank this. -
By the way, to protect your PSP, (your personal CSA score), you must be a good driver. Seatbelts, not speeding, driving safely. Only YOU can prevent YOU from having a bad PSP.

The Dot isnt going to take it out on you.
Its good when a driver of a troubled company goes through an inspection showing the company is improving.
They simply want to see compliance.
Its not automatic guilt by association
Ive been told "good job" by an inspector
A few times as I left the scale house , and the company I was with was 2 points from being shut down.bzinger, alds and NonEstFactum Thank this. -

USX has nice equipment from what I've seen on the road.Just make sure to do a thoural pretrip at the start of your shift everyday so you're less likely to get pulled in by the DOT.
NonEstFactum Thanks this. -
Not trying to find excuses for bad behavior just frustrated that these carriers have lost sight of reality.alds and NonEstFactum Thank this. -
You men crack me up. Such liars. The reason why you can claim such impeccable records is because after 3-years things fall off of your records. Also, many of you don't know how to run a truck and end up sitting at truck stops running your mouths a majority of the time which decreases your chances of getting dot harassed. Some of you are a little more advanced or evolved rather and use your CB radio to get information on how to go around weigh stations. You might be able to convince to brain damaged bunch on here of your "all that is man" truck driver status, but there are those of us who know when to call ########, and right now I'm definitely calling ########. I've been watching videos of officers making up violations or purposely uploading wrong information under a drivers inspection. Companies have also been making it a point to notate "truck abandonment" on people's dac reports as a means of revenge for the driver leaving the company. Starting to think the longer the beard the more delusional you are. Maybe it's something in the truck stop water, who knows really? One thing is for sure, some of you need to get a mental evaluation because compulsive lying is a mental disorder and many of you narcissists are inflicted heavily with it.
