    hello professional truck drivers.
After I accepted to haul a load for Apex, at about 1pm, I was told by two different o/o that apex haven't paid them yet . one of them is over 65 days and the other is over 45 days.
so, after I learned about these 2 payment issues, I contacted the broker at 4pm , and I explained my reasons why I wished to cancel the load.
first, two O/O for whom I, sometimes dispatch, told me that they are not getting paid.
2nd , I can't afford to take a risk hauling this load and not knowing that I will get pay on time or even if ill get pay at all. (4,200 Slc UT to Phoenix AZ)
I believe any reasonable person will do what I have done, don't you think ? what would you do ?
anyway, yesterday I received an email from DAT telling me that Apex filed a complaint about my company.
I responded to DAT and I also emailed to apex administration.
do you guy have any negative experience with Global/Apex logistic Group?I will like to hear it.
thank you for your time .

    Speed_Drums Thanks this.

I don’t have any numbers in front of me to see if we’re owed by them.

To put in context though... the employees all think everything is great with their company or they wouldn’t work there. In their view you did what most teuckers complain about with brokers... cancelled at the last minute for a cheaper truck. You did the version of you already DH to the load, broker cancels it, gives you no tonu, and now there’s no other loads. Then you talk to another trucker and hear that’s your load after all.

In their mind even if they believe you, cancelling a load hours later over in their mind hearsay, is not a reliable partner.

I get paid 25% of the load. I just did a reffer two load pickup from Idaho Falls area to a one drop in Phoenix for $2500. So $625 for me as the driver. That's less money for more miles.
Is $4200 normal or is the $2500 more in line for the rate?

I'd have to agree with @Midwest Trucker on this one. The time for due diligence is before you accept, not after.

That said, I looked them up in the DAT directory. Which Apex? There are 9 searching on "Apex" with 2 that also have "Global" in their names.

I'm gonna take a guess it was the one in American Fork UT (MC-627930) that is a Global Tranz agency. If so, they have paid ok the three random times I've booked them. Their reviews should have raised a minor red flag. Although 104 negatives vs 14 positives could be more than a minor red flag. I don't put a lot of weight on slow pay comments usually. Nobody ever comments about getting paid on time. On the other hand, a lot of the comments point toward shady business practices in general. That I can confirm with the last one I did for them about 5 months ago that earned them a spot on my very short naughty list for being shady about details before the fact, and zero support afterward.

5 pick 1 drop load from the Chicago area to OK. It started going bad when two of the earlier pickups detained the truck excessively, pushing the final pick to the next day. It was recoverable at that point, just inconvenient. At the final pickup, it was discovered they needed to load 9 skids and there was only floor space for 2. After hours dispatch was worthless. Someone managed to reach Troy Smithson, a national account manager, who solved the problem by making it my problem and further threatened to charge back a recovery carrier if the entire load didn't go, since that would help. There was a remark they buried in a page long wall of text on the rate "stack high and tight and/or pinwheel, driver responsible for everything blah blah blah." No pallet or case count. No mention whatsoever of tight trailer capacity except for this. They absolutely knew what they were doing and deliberately avoided bringing it up. Turns out the final pickup was cooperative and I ate a fair rework charge to get it all on the bus in time to make the scheduled delivery.

It won't ever happen again with that one. They pay ok but they're dirty. If this was your guy, you probably did yourself a solid and beat them to the punch. Probably would have been better for you had you read the reviews and just not called them in the first place.

The other listing that might be your guy was in Cypress TX. Brand new authority with no established credit info. Unless you personally know them, or get them to offer >50% advance on pickup and COD, hard pass. All easily found by clicking on the broker name in the post.

I used to work with them pretty often(MC-627930), and they've always paid by ACH on time. I just ran another random load with them in September, got paid in November like clockwork. This is actually one of the brokerages I prefer to work with. I've worked with 4 different agents from that office, all good.

Now my first load with Global Tranz, not Apex, took 60 days to pay.

Another reason people might not be getting paid on time, is because they want you to send your accounting package a certain way. I usually send separate PDF files to accounting, but they want only one file, and maybe even in a certain order, with the order number on each page or something. I don't remember the specifics, since my partner does the invoicing, but I know it's different somehow.

Important to note: Global Tranz is one of the outfits that has dozens of agencies. There will always be a few bad apples, but most agencies are probably good to deal with.

Most times (not always) slow pays in this type of arrangement are due to the agency not releasing the load for payment promptly. Usually on purpose to shore up their own cash flow.

In other words, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. I'd book another Global Tranz load, just never with the agency in UT. Your experience has been positive so far. They might do better with certain loads and accounts, and maybe I unfortunately scored the bad one.

Next time don’t tell them you want to cancel for said reasons.

Say you had a breakdown and nothing can be posted about you.

Thank you guys for your advise. it is good to know and learn from your experience.
I done several loads for Global and they paid me every time. However, it got me a little bit concern after hearing my two friends. I thought if I was honest with them, they would pay attention about their late payments and pay more attention to their negative reviews.
I responded to their complaint. I'll keep you posted,
    thank you again.
