Giltner overall is a good company. Yes they lost a bunch of drivers last year. I was one of them. I have a few friends that stayed working for them and there's a lot of changes for the good. I'm going back there next week on the 14th to work so we shall see.

Driver, Don't do it!!! I AM AT THIS VERY MOMENT LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB! This company used to be very good, and then we lost readypak and it went down hill from there. They tell you they run 11 western but they really mean that about the only time you get off I-5 is when you go home or one of their "favorite" drivers cant do the loads they have going to the Midwest. In the 10 and a half years I have been out here I have never run up against a company that has their favorite trucks like this company does. If you are not part of their chosen few then you must be prepared to sit for long periods of time and do 3,4,5 picks at a time. For example load in central California Friday morning and get to Sysco Kent Washington Saturday afternoon you will be sitting til Monday morning. I know I did this two weeks ago, only to have four picks Monday around Seattle. Including one down at pier 91. Please ask what the turn over rate is now and how many empty trucks they have. You will be surprised when you find out how many trucks this company has. Its so bad that I barely know anyone there now. They also have a pretty high dispatcher turnover because the planners force them to lie to drivers. Good luck but LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!

Giltner / Progressive logistics out of Jerome ID are liars and thieves. With 19 years of experience, I know a company going out of business when I see one. They will do anything to NOT pay you, have you work for free, and shave miles. They also do zero preventive maintenance unless the truck breaks down, and then they blame you for the breakdown. They have pulled out the apu's and installed bunk heaters which may or may not work. And no, they are no more interested in fixing bunk heaters then any other parts of the truck. Since you cant idle, you had better be familiar with surving in sub zero temps in the winter. So if you want to run for free in dangerous junk equiptment with no respect at all, go with Giltner.
anonymousinidaho Thanks this. -
Gliltner WAS ok, but the owner is retiring and handing whats left of the company to his daughter, who clearly is going to extract the last nickel out of the company before cashing out. She knows nothing about the industry and has no interest in doing anything but cashing-out. So stay clear unless you want to go to work for a company before it goes out of business. And no, the trucks wont idle and they have pulled out the apu's, contrary to the rest of the carriers who are all putting IN apu's for basic driver comfort. They get their equiptment from the rejected equiptment at England, and are using the thieves at England for a model on how to run a trucking company. And anyone who knows anything about England knows thaty are the biggest thieves with the worst record in poor treatment of drivers in tbe industry.

Gee, they "they lost a bunch of drivers" and key customers recently, but you dont see a problem with that? Giltner is modelling the company after the criminals at England and you will find THOUSANDS of complaints about england on the web. Giltner is a tiny company getting smaller by the day because drivers are quiting and they are losing more and more important customers. Because they have so few trucks, you dont see many complaints. Stick to listening to drivers who run for giltner NOW, not years ago.

So true. To stay in business, Giltner will give you 3-5 stops, essentially LTL freight, yet pay the driver peanuts. LTL freight pays the carrier a lot more than truckload, yet they pay the driver truckload rates. Also, lots of 2 am pickups and 3:00 deliveries, with nothing to reload for days after that. When their bald re-treads blow out, they act as if it is the drivers fault. They also still use the ancient HHG zip code to zip code method of calculating miles, shorting the driver a lot of miles so they dont have to pay you. Everybody has a cell phone that will calculate address to address mileage accurately, so its easy to see how much the driver is driving for free every load/trip. Giltner is too cheap to fix their leased equiptment at a real shop, so they will try to get you to wait until you get through their own shop in ID. But the giltner shop is basically a tin barn with a couple of jiffy lube rejects working on their own car or motorcycle in their shop and are not interested in trying to figure-out whats wrong with a tractor-trailer.
