I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy this company will leave you stranded and what they don't tell you on the telephone when the recruiter calls you, is that when you get to the orientation they're going to have you sign all kinds of documents indicating that you are going to be responsible for the pay of the transportation that got you to the orientation to from your hometown to Jerome Idaho they will rent you a car but you will pay for it. They also going to charge you for the hotel stay for the three days of orientation. They're going to charge you for your food and transportation while you are at their orientation but they definitely didn't bothering telling you this when the recruiter calls you. They wait until you go all the way to Jerome Idaho and then they tell you like a surprise we're going to throw a grenade at you and the pin has already been pulled. The recruiter is going to tell you they're going to pay you fifty cents per mile the recruiter is going to tell you that you're going to be driving either a 2018 or 2019 Freightliner or Volvo and when you get to orientation they're going to issue you a 2016 Freightliner that has 300,000 miles on it. Getting back to the recruiter, they're going to say will pay you fifty cents per mile but when you get to orientation you will find out that it it's truly only $0.43 per mile. When you get out on the road and thrown to the wolves and you get tired of all the lies and lies and lies about why you don't qualify for detention pay because you're going to sit and sit and sit and sit and sit for days and nights! I promise you're going to sit more than you do Drive and you aren't to get one single penny for detention. And in orientation you are promised that you do get paid $22.00 dollars per hour for ANY detention and IT'S ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE! And when you decide to quit you'll be put out into the streets of Jerome Idaho and you will find your own way home they absolutely without a doubt do not care about you and leaving you to find and pay your own way back to your own home state! And here's the kicker they're going to keep ALL of your PAY they're not going to pay you one single dime you will go home broke or whatever you have in your pocket or your account at the time, "but they aren't going to pay you. Giltner Inc Trucking Company out of Jerome Idaho is a very bad Company that I'm very sorry I went and waisted my time energy and personal money to drive for coming out at the end with no pay check, "but luckily I already have $5000.00 dollars in my bank account so I was very fortunate to get my own ticket and get my own way back to Seattle. But I can just imagine people who come to orientation with no money in their pockets and have these horrible circumstances go down and having to fend for themselves getting back to their home city and state. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAY AWAY FROM GILTNER INC OUT OF JEROME IDAHO.

Yep. Lots of companies are doing that. (Confiscating the last paycheck)
Some even put that stipulation in the employee handbook. For example they’ll let you know in the handbook that even after 90 days, your transportation and lodging are coming out of that check as well as any wear and tear damage to the truck. IE.. scrapes, scratches whatever. Basically taking your last check. I don’t care how immaculate you return the truck, or how many before and after pictures you take to CYA. Your check will still be seized.

And it’s more of a punishment for you leaving than it is to offset any damage. I say that because trucks can be turned in, in better shape than they went out, so there really shouldn’t be any reason to take a man’s last paycheck. But they’ll think of something. And there ain’t a d***n thing you can do about it. (What’re you gonna do? Go to court? Really? How much time and money are you prepared to spend to recover your 1300 bucks? Or what’s legally recoverable after they take out for the hotel and transportation?)

When it comes to recruiting, they won’t tell you what’s in the employee hand book. Doing that risks scaring you off. Everything is cream and baby when you’re on the phone, Once you arrive at the terminal then you get to see the other side. The side they won’t tell you about on the phone. It’s at that point that you need to make some decisions before going any further. That’s the crucial moment.

If a company plans on taking a $1368.00 (Example) pay check from me and cite truck damage as the excuse, even though there is none; then I can tell you right from the gate I will not be returning that truck to their yard. I don’t give two F***s what they put on my DAC. HireRight doesn’t define me or intimidate me. And life goes on. I’ve had 3 abandonments in my illustrious almost 30 year Trucking career and I’m still Trucking. Now a lot of people won’t agree with that and that’s ok, but that’s how I roll.
My advice to you is do your homework before driving for someone. And even though you do the homework, there’s still no guarantee you won’t get bushwhacked. Nothing in life is guaranteed NOTHING.

Giltner has some of the most dangerous drivers I have ever seen. Tailgating, excessive speeding, no signal turns & lane changes. And when they get to a warehouse I think they are being timed on how fast they can get in a dock, like the forklift is back there waiting. They park anyplace they feel like In a T/S & take 30's on the fuel island
I have yet to see one of their drivers who cared about anyone but themselves. Seems like they are what they put behind the wheel..

So the first lesson learned is to ask the recruiter if the company will charge back the cost of orientation for any reason and to put that answer in writing, and to get the name of the person or on who's authority.

The second lesson learned is - if a company is hiring you as a W - 2 company driver and they charge back the cost of your orientation...don't work for them!

    Here ends the lesson!

You joined the forum today, don't give yourself even a real name and then immediately call someone else a liar. Interesting choices.
