Any one know what I need to have with me to get the registration completed? I don't want to waste a long drive up to Tallahassee and not have something with me to get it done.
Has Anyone done it recently or remember what they required you to have with you?

Monday I have to head up to Tallahassee, FL to get my apportion tag and register the Pete in my name.
My name is on the title with my father's. It is currently registered under his name only from when he transferred the tag from his previous truck.
Been trying the last 2 days to get a hold of some one in Tallahassee, but have only been getting answering machines.
It appears that they are all on vacation till after new years. But I'm leaving at the crack of dawn to go up there.

Anyway... I have my insurance, the trailer title has been transferred to me and is now registered in my name, as well as the DOT #.
We are waiting on instructions to transfer the MC#. We were told we can transfer that to a family member.
So all I need now is to register the apportion tag in my name and get my IFTA sticker.

One thing you'll need for sure is proof of payment of 2290. Also if you're in an emissions area you'll need a copy of the passed emissions test. Proof of ins, copy of title, and I don't know how they'll work the mileage since it's titled in both of your names, and was previously licensed in your dads name, you might need last years mileages. That's all I can think of right now.

    82ndCowboy Thanks this.

It turns out, that I can run on my father's apportion tag and IFTA until his tags run out in June. Then we can just register it in my name.
This way we don't loose any money for terminating his tag early. Because as you may know, Florida doesn't give any refunds on unused apportion tags.
Only requirement is I have to have a lease agreement with him to run on his tags and IFTA stickers.
So this issue is postponed till June.

I just did this in Nov, you'll need proof of insurance, proof of 2290 payment (only if the truck has been in your possession for more then 60 days) cash or money order, a completed IRP form, drivers license two utility bills, and a vehicle registration all gotta have the same address to prove you're a florida resident.

You dont have to go to Tallahassee, you can do it in St. Pete, but if you do it in St. Pete you'll have to renew it in St. Pete. It took me all of 15mins cause i had all of my paper work in hand. and i got my tag the same day.

The trick for you is to wait till your dad's tag expires, then have him sell you the truck for a dollar, get a bill of sale saying you bought it from your dad for a dollar, then take the bill of sale and his title to the DMV/County tax office and get the title put in your name, they're going to charge you sales tax on that dollar you paid, and then the fee to transfer the title.

They'll give you a title application showing that title work is being completed on the vehicle with vin number XXXX and then you take that with you also to the IRP office and that's how you get it in your name.

The title for my truck was in OK originally, and the bank fed ex it to me on Nov 23 on a Tuesday, on Wensday i was in the title office getting the title work done, and the same day i drove to St. Pete to get my tag. IFTA in Tallahassee was closed on Thursday and Friday for ThanksGiving.. Sunday evening i left out for Tallahassee, was sitting in the IRP IFTA parking lot (they have one just for truck and trailer parking) around 1am Monday, had my stickers before 8:45am

    Thanks Mitchtazz,
But the title already has my name on it. We bought it together because I had already made the commitment to take over his business.
    So that part is done.
Thanks for the heads up in St. Pete though, That's about 100 miles shorter for me.

Wow, St Pete's right down the street. You can't get your IFTA stickers there though right?
