    Georgia trucking company (HS)

If anyone goes to HS in Georgia I cannot say what his/her experience will be. However, just do your best and be cautious and always looking for another job.

    Pros
    1. Good place to start for new truck drivers (they will hire almost anyone)
    2. Good place to start for a quick job and to earn some type of income
    3. Mechanics are available to repair trucks
    4. If you agree to everything they want, the driver will be fine
    5. Hourly employees are treated best (vs. those making commission)
    6. At home daily drivers do not run E logs since they are within 150 miles of home base
    7. Automatic trucks only (this can be a pro or con for some)
    8. Only 1 annual refresher course (1 day of training a year)
    9. Quick load times depending on which division you are driving for
    10. Regards safety as the UTMOST importance

    Cons
    1. They do not prefer drivers to stay long term (only very few).
*They do terminate older drivers due to insurance NOT covering them.*
    2. They enjoy HIGH turn over rates.
    3. They love NEW orientation classes EVERY week all year long.
    4. Income does not increase, but some divisions make more than others (over-the-road vs home daily).
    - Staring out 22% commission
    - Highest is 25% after 1 year and does not increase higher than 25%
    5. Discrimination
    6. They purposely make mistakes on paycheck to see which drivers are paying attention and those who are not.
    7. Driver facing camera for some drivers (yet which drivers are chosen is up to them).
    8. Company policy changes at their discretion with no notice given to drivers (at least monthly).
    9. Do not speak up for yourself!
    10. Be prepared to be terminated any time (remember Georgia is an "at-will" employment state.

Good luck if you decide to go there, and just keep these things in mind.
*Again these are only my thoughts and experience.*
*I will edit and add if I think of other pros and cons.*

    @Bonita Nut
Based on the initials of the company and the area you are looking for employment in, I'm guessing you are talking about the company Howard Sheppard, Sandersonville, Ga?

I feel reasonably confident that the Gang here on the Forum can help you find something A LOT BETTER...... :)

Bonus points -- if you have any CDL endorsements (tanker, hazmat, doubles/triples)....
