Find a new job. Good paying jobs are worthless to a dead man or a cripple.
OldHasBeen Thanks this. -
Unless they have changed the law, firearms are illegal in Commercial Motor Vehicles. A driver was arrested, in Ga, at one of those scales for having one in his possession in his truck a couple of years ago. You can check with one of the scale persons to be sure but I think it was the scale on I85 up above Atlanta where he was arrested. Im sure they would be glad to answer the question.

If you have a carry permit from GA, you live in GA, and you don't cross any state lines, then there is no problem. There is no law against hand guns in commercial vehicles. The problem for OTR drivers arises in traveling into states with more strict gun laws. However, I would imagine most companies have some sort of policy regarding carrying guns in company vehicles.

that's not a true statement at all, it is not illegal to carry in a commercial vehicle, as long as you have the proper weapon permit and the company policy doesn't prohibit it. many states have reciprocal agreements with ga for weapon permitsbaha Thanks this. -
Being in a CMV has no bearing on whether or not you can be in possession of a particular type of weapon. State laws apply where weapons are concerned. As far as I know, a shotgun is legal to possess in the lower 48, and is quite effective against varmints - 2 legged and 4 legged.

The thugs have the element of surprise, they'll be on top of you before you know they're there. They won't announce that a robbery is going on from 30 feet away.
Theres a big thread on guns here.
Will your company allow you to carry?
this is why I'm for euthanizing all thiefs.xlsdraw Thanks this. -
So here's the basic deal. afaik Georgia treats a motor vehicle in the same way they do your home, meaning you can conceal a weapon in your vehicle WITHOUT a permit. Now where I'm not clear on this is weather that means you can conceal it on your person in the vehicle. At your house it is perfectly legal to do so, so I'd lean towards yes.
However, there really is no reason not to get a permit as the Georgia weapons carry permit is incredibly easy to obtain. Go to your local probate court, fill out a form, take a picture, submit fingerprints and pay a fee. In a couple weeks your card will come in the mail. Aside from being allowed to carry virtually everywhere in GA, it also makes it easier when you buy a gun as they don't have to call it in to the nics.
