Plug in the radio, hook up an antenna, flip it to 19 and make sure the band switch is on D. Go to a truck stop or the interstate. If you hear other truckers, chances are the radio has/was converted to work on the CB band (11 meters) and that's what you want.
Reason being it's not a real CB radio; it's an export and it will allow you to get on the ham bands and transmit, which is illegal unless you are licensed on the applicable ham bads which in this case happens to be 10 meters. Real CB radios don't allow access to the 10 meter ham bands. In order for this radio to work on the 11 meter CB band, it has to have the conversion done. They don't come out of the box already to talk on the 11 meter CB band.
On the General lee, the CB band, once converted is usually D. I'd advise moving the band switch anywhere other than D unless you possess a valid ham license for 10 meter use.
Once this is established, then do an SWR check (I'll presume you know how to do this...if you don't post back and we can help) and then once the SWR is 2.1:1 or lower (I prefer 1.5:1 or lower myself) then key up and ask for a radio check.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Many " EXPORTS " go into the HAM BANDS and to go there you must be licensed they are not " FREEBANDS " or extra channels anything above 28.000 mhz BELONGS to the hams.Another Canadian driver and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Thanks for the great advice I had her plugged in and couldn't get anything flipped it to D and got some talking but a lot of static and decided to flip it from FM to AM and its load and clear so thanks again

CB and aircraft are the last to bands that still use AM YES there are still a few HAMS too but FM is used by 99% of radio today if you have a radio scanner all police, fire and Goverment radios are FM .......
The reason FM is not leagal on CB is bandwidth and the FCC has never given it a chance or set a standard .... not much chance they will.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Those Gen Lee's are nice. D is citizens band on it. As for the other bands, excerise your right to do whatever the hell you wanna do. Just ignore the cry babies, or if you got it, cut their lips off.

The FCC knows where to look ... 28.085 is one common one .....
As long as you stay off the ham bands us HAMS don't care and off our bands it's not our fight anyway ....Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
