I was curious cause I've seen it happen a few times with different drivers. Say for example I go to a shell station that sells regular car diesel which I'm assuming is off-highway diesel. Can that be used also in a Semi. Of course I'll make sure the height clearance is 13'6.

There is nothing special about "truck stop" diesel. Diesel is diesel. Only difference between on-road diesel vs off-road diesel is you pay road use taxes for the on-road stuff, and the off-road is dyed red to signify road taxes have not been paid. Gas stations sell taxed fuel the same as truck stops, because even pickup trucks and gasoline burning cars are required to pay road use taxes on the fuel they use on the roads. Unless it is marked "Off Road" or "Non-Taxed" (and you can fit into the station), you can run it in your truck.

They are skinny hoses and take forever to pump...I have used them before though.

Don't get caught with the red stuff in the tank either, fines are stiff....Also, keep in mind that diesel in the deep south is not "cut" in the winter, meaning that if you come up to my neck of the woods in the winter months without adding anti-gel you may be in for a bad day....

Most gas stations in my area that sell diesel can be up to .20 cheaper than the truckstops. One of our biggest convenience store chains just started adding Big truck diesel pumps to their lots.........And the diesel prices are different than the regular diesel pumps 200' away.
