Bought a brand new Garmin Dezl 770LM in October. Woke up this morning to no power on the unit. Checked fuse. Checked power connections. Checked 12V socket. Plugged it into the laptop.
In the infamous words of Bones McCoy: "It's dead, Jim."
Anyone else have this issue? Don't believe there's a fix that a dumb driver like me can do. Guess I'll have to box it up and send it to Garmin when we get home.
And buy another stupid GPS.
These stupid things are expensive and I thought you guys should know.
Garmin Dezl 770LM dead?

Nothing showed up when you plug it in the computer? Like garmin express program didn't detect it?
When I first bought it, the screen would turn off and I thought it die. But it was the power saver and the voice still work. I realize later my 12v plug wasn't giving enough power to the garmin and it was charging it but not fast enough.
Hold down the power button and see if the garmin logo comes upmiss elvee Thanks this. -
Still a brick. Nothing at all is recognized on the laptop. I'm trying the old 'let her charge for 3 hours then try to turn it on again'. Just for the reason you said @w.h.o
So far... nada. Sigh. -
Try what w.h.o said and hold pwr button down for like 20 seconds. That used to work for me on other garmin's. Also look for a small hole and stick toothpic in and hold it.

^^^ yep, hard reset may work!!

Speaking of the stupid Garmin erroneous errors noted in other thread ... anyone having problem routing truck from Medford to Gold hill (or Los Angeles to Portland) and having the software refuse to route you between Medford and Gold Hill (No Trailers warning) and try and send you far out of route?
Yet another Garmin erroneous data issue. Or is it just me? I updated the software a month or two ago, and have recently re-booted the unit to rule that out. Seriously considering going back to Rand McNally considering the frequent erroneous data issue of the Garmin systems related to trucks. A shame the unit will not show you "avoided problems" and give the user the option to ignore these (as they are not valid). I've written Garmin about this issue but with no meaningful acknowledgment of the issue or concern to address the issue. -
Not familiar with the area. Or having an exact address to check. But copilot says Gustaf is a restricted route. Where ever Gustaf is.
i entered a second and 3rd time and got 4th avenue is a restricted route. I see that road on google maps.
That's going to Gold Hill. Going to portland it directs straight up the 5. -
I kept ignoring the Garmin and proceeded up I-5. Finally at Medford is where it had kittens and displayed "No Trailer" signs on I-5 at Medford. Obviously, maybe at some point there was construction and they routed trucks to the access road or around somehow, and Garmin added this or the state fed it to Garmin and it was put in correctly or incorrectly.
This is the problem with Garmin. They put stuff in, but they don't take stuff out. By "stuff" I mean truck restrictions, due to short term or long term needs. There problem reporting system is so convoluted and difficult, there essentially is no way for users to report problems, and when you do, they are never corrected.miss elvee Thanks this. -
As far as the brick went, the hard reset seems to have fixed it. Still have no idea what happened or why. I used a paperclip in the reset button. Thanks @rachi and @G13Tomcat.
Garmin has avoided the sledgehammer another day.
