I have been using the Garmin 760LMT for a few weeks now and I would give it a 3 out of 5 Stars. So far it has worked great except for a few snags here and there. The one BIG complaint I have was after one trip to a area I thought I knew well. I have my truck profile to avoid low bridges. I recently had a trip to the Milwaukee area. (Anyone that knows the Milwaukee area around 1st street) is littered with low bridges. The GPS took me to a road I couldn't go down or even around. Had to back track 20 miles. The low bridges didn't show until I turned off navigation and just did map mode then they all popped up. It's my fault for following the GPS blindly since I grew up in Milwaukee and thought I knew the area well so I "trusted" the GPS. Otherwise most of the time I use it for a digital map & the dashboard. Displays speed, time traveled, time sitting, compass , and trip A / B. I say for anyone else that's thinking of buying one it is worth the cost but be prepared for it to get you in a bind from time to time.

I really appreciate your feedback on that,I want one but haven't seen many threads on it.
Ive had a GPS since they came out years ago,so I'm used to cross referencing every trip via "the map"
but was kinda hoping that they'd come out with a REAL TRUCK DRIVER friendly device.

I had the Gamin Dezl. It had some nice features, but, it was better for newbies. The routing kept you on good highways, but, took you the long way around. Too many extra miles.

I normally use an older version of PC Miler. The new version has a lot of bugs in the software.

My boss had a Rand McNally that wasn't to bad.
Always good to have a good old fashioned map :)

You all are right, even for the $400 price tag it does NOT replace a good' ol paper map. And it will take you in a "circle" from time to time. Example.. Instead of going "through" it will "loop" you around to get to a place you want to go. That is all in the settings. Fastest time OR Shortest distance. I have mine set to fastest time. I can see using the shortest distance getting you into trouble more often. I have yet to try the digital log but I can see that being a good tool to use to compare against if you still use paper logs. The POI's are nice too. Though if you program in a route and look for POI's it will bring up everything near you instead of the route you take so Example. If you are going from North to South it will bring up POI's that may be further East or West of were you want to go but you have the options to chose what you want. It will tell you what the POI's offer as well. WiFi, showers, truck repair etc. so it really does come with lots of extras that are useful in your trips. I will report more as I learn to use more of the tools it has. Be safe out there

Edit.. Any GPS you chose is only as good as the information provided to the company to build maps so as truckers that use them we need to report areas that may have gotten us or will get others in trouble. I am in a more rural town so the information may not be as good as a major city. As for my example getting taken a low bridge route Garmin may have not had that information even though the truck profile should of avoided those areas. I will say the best thing about it so far is on the interstate and it will show you exactly what lane to be in for your exit and a photo of what the exit / ramp sign says. that is very useful when you are in a high traffic situation and not familiar with the major interchanges. That's all I got for now :)

I agree. I get a new motor carrier book every year, look forward to it. And its a great TV tray and my file folder for the current load.

The GPS are simple to use but for me that's not enough of a tradeoff for a big color coded map. Actually I'm annoyed just thinking about how imperfect GPS really are, given that you can connect them to the internet every second of the day they should be better than they are.
