Garden State Parkway, at SOME point it's legal, but where?!?

In general it's best to avoid anything with the words "Park" and "way" in it in the NYC area.
But at some point it's legal to run trucks on the GSP,
because I was taking the scenic route to the Jersey Shore (I think it was 22 pallets of hair-gel:biggrin_25526:)

And as I'm crawling up 34 from one light to another I saw about a dozen CMVs getting on the GSP south and one run north.

Now Monday I've got a pickup in South Jersey near Atlantic City and it's going up to Mass.
I'm considering taking the GSP up to Perth Amboy because it's faster than backtracking to Camden on 42 (ACX).

So anyone know how far up I can go?

New Jersey route 18 and south you are good to go. Do not get caught north of route 18 on the GSP.

    Ruthless Thanks this.

The GSP is open to trucks south of NJ-18, north of that I'm not sure if any of it is. I run that area pretty frequently, and I've always run GSP-18-95 coming from Atlantic City to points north.

if your picking up around Atlantic City you can go north to 195 over to NJTP
that's what I would do after living on the shore for 15 years
but you have to get off by the time you get to the 18 or route 9

Yeah it says it's legal up to exit 105, but the problem is that's kind of a "dead end" in that I'd still have to run 18 up to the Turnpike.
Which wouldn't be bad, 18's kinda nice (was just there today)
But you hit East Brunswick and it all goes to pot.

I'll still consider it, but I think I'll stick with ACX to NJTP.

I just wanted to check if there were any special permits needed to run it.

Exit 105 for Route 18 and Route 36 leading to Long Branch is the point at which all trucks are forced to leave the Parkway. correct information from GSP website

I run the area regularly and trucks are allowed on the parkway South of exit 105. If you are coming up North there will be signs forcing you to get off at exit 105, just make sure you are in the local lanes. There are no signs letting you know that you can use the parkway when heading south though:( but you can get on at 105 or anywhere south of that
