Im willing to bet that if you do a good service manual alignment, leave the limiters alone the radio will work just fine...

 

The 98 VHP shines in the area where the driver can't run an external amp because his boss says so, but doesn't have an issue with him running the wires off the battery.

But I agree while the 98 VHP is a nice radio for what it is, you can truly do better. Case in point a 98 VHP is what...$500 something? For that kind of coin I can run a Texas Star DX 500 with a Cobra 25 and STILL come out on top.

At least the DX 500 will give an honest 400 + without much work. The 98 VHP is really only good for 200 unless you introduce the golden screwdriver inside.

One issue with the 98 VHP is the amp is on the bottom and heat rises, so naturally guess where the heat goes?

Do you know what the #1 enemy of electronics is?

Then you have the MOSFETs. Some don't like them. I'd rather have Toshiba's any day. Maybe 4 of them in a row like the 2970N4 has.

All in all if the price is right I wouldn't hesitate getting a 98 VHP. Heck I used to own one, bought it for $350.

 

$565 ALREADY PAID,WANTS $250 IN FEW DAYS INCREASED TO $500,THE AMP COST $850 NEW as he says in email could charge $1200,,,POSSIBLE GRAND TOTAL $1625===FOR A $850 AMPLIFIER=DOUBLE CHARGED.....IS THAT LEGAL? NOW THIS WAS BY HIS EMAIL,....All he was to do was replace 10 pills but he took it upon himself to do a total rebuild and double charge me,,,,,what do you call that??????? HE NEVER ASKED ME A THING,JUST TRUCKED ALONG BUILDING UP CHARGES

 

Didn’t he give you some kind of a ball park price or estimate before he started the job? When you start talking hundreds of dollars, he should at least gave you a phone call and talked about it. That would just be good business practice.

 

This was the original agreement,no other work was scheduled to be done,not another thing was agreed to ,our agreement by email......1 st cheated me on cost of transistors$,buying 10 cost less than $300

I have placed an online order on 09/10/2018 for a "**** **** ** *****" for the amount of $1518.60 that was paid thru *** ***. I have email Jokerman Electronics multiple times to see when I would receive my order, and I have left voicemails and no one has returned my phone calls. I do have copies of the email I have sent, and a copy of the purchase order.

I purchase a product back in April 12th 2018 and paid $373.78 USD since then i have reached out to the owner and he tells me the vendor is no longer in the business, and that he will try to replace my item ASAP . this phone call has happened 3 times since april and still he has my money and i have no product ,I asked him to refund my money but he will not do it and keeps telling me to give him more time .I think i have been more than fair with him.

On 05/31/20018 I paid JASON L**** of JOKERMAN ELECTRONICS $565.00 to repair an electronic component.He assured me he could do it.But 8 months later he will not return equipment,even if not repaired.Not enterested in money,just equipment.Experts say job sould have been in few weeks,he even posted on YOUTUBE LIMITED PROGRESS.Please have him return equipment.

My husband ordered an amp 13 months ago with no result. Jason was quick to take our money but constantly came up with excuses and sob stories and told us to wait and be patient. We offered to change the order or substitute for another product, Jason went along with this at first but then reneged.
Just give us our money back and stop taking money for product's you won't deliver.,,,,ANOTHER SATISFIED CUSTOMER
