Does anyone know anything good or bad about these company's? I've looked at there website's and know G&P will recruit at my school in January, but would like to know more about if they are a good company or what. I would be based out of the Greer, SC terminal with G&P and Greenville, SC w/Palmetto. I have no interest in long haul but I know for the first year about anywhere I go I will have to do some. Any info on the two would be appreciated!

Don't have any personal experience with them but have a friend that drove for G&P for about a year. He was pretty happy there, ran 2500+/- a little a week and made decent money. Said staff was generally easy to work with. He stayed out 2-3 weeks at a time but said he could be home weekly if he had wanted.
He had a few 'incidents' in the northeast that he admitted were his fault and they canned him but he never had anything bad to say about them.
Epes is another good choice as well for students if your school is approved by them. You're in a good area for them with a lot of freight in, out, and through sc. Good place to get solid training, home weekly decent pay/benefits package, good equipment. Good trainers and no team training. I did 3 years there and although I've moved on to a better company still recommend them as a good place to get started. -
Epes, yeah I see them alot around here. Thanks for mentioning them as well I had forgotten about checking on them. Home weekly after my first year is what I want. Thanks also for the info on G&P also.

I'm attending Tri County Tech school in SC, I did'nt see it on Epes school approved list. Does this mean no need to apply with them?
-
If it's not on their list they review on a case by case basis. Those schools on their list are ones they actively recruit from and send recruiters to.
Put in an application anyway and follow up with a call to recruiting. I know they're needing drivers. Many of us left last year due to some changes they made and they picked up some additional contracts during the same period and they have seats to fill. From what I hear from former students I trained there and other drivers I'm still in contact with there they got the message and things are getting back on track. Next couple of months would be a good time to get in while they've got the empty seats they'd be more willing to consider other schools.Chaps Thanks this. -
Just a heads up for any other new drivers wanting to apply at Epes. If your school is not on their list they will not hire a newbie without three months OTR. After my research I was thinking on them hard, sucks but rules are rules I guess.

#### that's too bad. That means the policy has changed since July when I left there. I had students from other schools on my truck when I was training there as recently as may. Good luck to you.

Well I figured when I completed my schooling in February I would maybe try again.

Yeah it couldn't hurt. Another one I thought of if you haven't looked at them would be cargo transporters out of Claremont nc. They hire students have a very good rep as well. Many parallels to Epes as far as pay/equipment/operating areas. Haven't seen much bad said about them much more good than bad.
Chaps Thanks this.
