Does anyone know if having two fuel tanks of different sizes would cause a compensation problem. Let's say that having one tank of 80 gallons on the driver side and another of 120 gallons on the passenger side may cause the driver side to run empty or below the return lines.

As far as I remember, I have always seen trucks with the same capacity on both sides. Trying to find out if it is coincidence or It need to be that way. Truck is a freightliner cascadia 125 dd13.

Mine go down at approximately the same rate. 389 pete with 90 on left and 135 on right. The lowest I've ever gotten it was either a 210 or 213 gallon fill up. No issue other than me crapping my pants in fear of running out. Learned that day the last 1/8 on the gauge can sometimes mean 200 miles, other times it might only mean 30. So I don't chance it as close anymore.

There’s no issue, the majority of new trucks sold have different size tanks because they have to make room for the def tank.

Slap a total of 335's or 345's on there, buy enough frame for that DEF and don't worry about it for 1700 miles.

See this guy has the right idea. Do it old 66 cali rounder style. 4 fuel tanks and add another def tank.

    Screw it!

Crete was buying trucks with different size fuel tanks before I left. Unless there is a fuel line blockage or you are sitting on uneven ground, the tanks equalize to the same level so there shouldn't be any issues.

    Rideandrepair and crucar1800 Thank this.

Don't forget the APU. My Volvo has DEF tank and a 150 on driver's side and a 100 with the APU on the right side.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
