When I hauled fuel we never took more than 8900 gasoline or 7800 diesel - and we loaded on scales.

Way back I remember the minimum loads...
bunker oil #4, #5, and #6 were a 5500 gal min, #2 and diesel was 6500 and gas was 7500.

Gas loads were a juggling act to fit the most of the products ordered to fit into your compartments. and the gas loads average 7500 to 8500.

it's all about product density. we were brought into a bentonite clay project loading from railroad cars. they were using 1000 cu ft. cement trailers and we came in with 1600 cu footers. after they filled the first one to the top [scaled 109,000# at the landfill construction site]; we had to tell them to stop around 18" from the top...

Liquids are figured the same way. Fuel is light in larger aluminum tanks, chemicals are heavier and may need insulation so the barrel is a little smaller. Then look at acids [sulfuric is over 15# per gal] and the barrel is even smaller [3737 gal = 45K and 4265 gal = 48K] so the barrel is built to hold the max amount at lightest end of the barrel's spec but usually never filled...

They’re pretty lenient on tanker axle weights. I pulled a dedicated load to North Dakota weekly for seven years. Was always about 35,100 on my drives while grossing 77,100. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, nor South or North Dakota ever once batted an eye at me.

6954B50A-9ACF-41FC-9F3C-DEAF4A9A839F.jpeg This truck and trailer I’m 27800 to 28200 depending on fuel. That tanker has four pockets and a 9500 gallon capacity. The most I ever load this time of year is gross 9200 gallons of denaturant (Natural Gasoline). The net gallons was 9450 and product temp was 27.0. Is called at 79980 .

Where do you get natgas that's only 27°F?

We haul some that's usually in the 80s, depending on ambient temperature.

Natural gas drippings not natural gas. It’s called natural gasoline. I think it’s NG5 if I remember correctly

Yes, natural gasoline, C5, that's what I was asking about.

Most of the time as soon as they see I am under 80,000, I get the green light. Very rare for them to wait long enough for the load to settle down enough to get the axle weights.
