If the average tractor weighs roughly 25k or so, wouldn’t a 9000 gallon tanker holding any liquid weighing over 6ppg put that truck over the legal weight limit of 80k?

tscottme and Pamela1990 Thank this.

With a tractor weighing 20k alone isn’t that illegal technically? -
Pamela1990 Thanks this.

What’s the point in having a tanker that size if filling it completely would put you over weight? Barring any permits for overweight? -
Pamela1990 and leviant0107 Thank this.

Generally speaking, if a transport(tanker) trailer is legally loaded with diesel fuel, it is loaded with 7,000-7,200 gallons. Gasoline will be in the 8,000-8,300 gallon range. This based on using daycabs.
The compartments on the trailers vary in size, to give flexibility in loading different products if needed.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -

What kind of tractor do you have? My mid roof Mack weighs 27,700 with a 7500 gal tank. Compartment trailer adds around 1,200. I don't haul fuel but the general idea of loading your own trailer is, scale in, get a gallon estimate and load to that amount which will put you at or under 80k. Or load on a scale. I've never hauled a fully loaded tanker since I've been driving. Unless you're hauling wax you'll always have air space in the trailer
Pamela1990 Thanks this.
