I will be installing new fuel tanks and fuel lines on my truck soon and i would like to install some fuel cut off valves i was thinking of installing them between the t fittings and the hoses on both the return lines as well as suction lines. any reason not to do that also any special specs these valves should have?

Can't see why it wouldn't be okay. Peteebilt have them on the top of each tank for the return lines. I'd put them where I could reach then without laying under the truck.

Any liquid ball valve will do just fine. I would use brass just to keep the rust and corrosion to a minimum.

i think under the truck would be fine its not something i would need to access regularly but in a situation where i had last week where i ruptured a fuel tank they would have been handy to have. will also help me in replacing the fuel tanks as ill need to shuffle fuel from one side to the other. right now have 1/2 npt plugs in the t fitting where the lines to the damaged tank would attach.
figure seems how the one tank is empty and lines already disconected ill replace that tank first intall the valve and new lines turn the valves off pump the fuel from the other side then change the other it was messy dealing with trying to isolate the other tank in the first place with fuel trying to equalize and what not while your trying to un do lines and install plugs and what not. should a situation arise in the future where i need to isolate a tank climbing under and turning a couple valves would be much simpler.
