I am not a recruiter. I have been hauling fuel in Tampa for 2 years. I am getting ready to go back OTR and will be leaving the company in April. I work for DB Trucking in Tampa ( Headquarters Ft Lauderdale). I came from hauling refer and was brought in with zero tanker or fuel experience. They trained me and coached me through a challenging honeymoon in this industry. They got to know me and the kinds of runs I liked and tried to build my schedules to help me succeed. If you are looking to break into the fuel hauling industry you could do worse than contacting DB Trucking. They are hiring. Good luck and be safe.

Not as much as in other parts of the country. Mid 60's in Tampa. You won't make that in the first couple years. Expect to start in the high 40's low 50's annually. Most companies pay by load. If you find one that pays hourly don't be surprised if they change soon.

Not at all. I have been planning to go back OTR for some time now. I was just waiting for the kids to get a little older. I could have moved on anytime to another company and made more money but they have been good to me here. KAG is big here, as is Eagle. DB offers things these companies don't that make it easier for the new fuel hauler to acclimate to the industry. Route cards showing detailed maps with station entry, exit, and truck position is HUGE. Once you are experienced working at these stations these things aren't as necessary so the bigger companies don't offer them.
