Going to start a new gig pulling tankers. I have to be able to carry at least 8600 gallons i believe. Anyways, here is my question. The company requires tare weight to be under 16k pounds including driver. Im looking for a flat top with a small sleeper, so my question is, what is the heaviest i could be on the tare weight? How much do trailers usually weight?
Please share your experiences and what you haul, what you weight empty and how much you can load (diesel or gas) to drive legal (80k)? Thanks in advance!

9 or 10 speeds weigh less than 13 or 18 speeds, small fuel tanks help little, smaller eng. will be ness. older tanker co. liked M-11 cumm. eng. alot for weight saving, just drive to nearest scale on the test drive you will take all the trucks on an comp. weights with same truck with diff. eng. look close at tag inside door or in dash box for weight stamped on plate and what it wt. on scale?

OP
buying new or used? -
Sorry for the late reply folks. I have set on a truck and picking it up this Wednesday. Got a deal on a 2010 Pete 384, cummins ISM 410hp, 10 speed, it has 15180 stamp weight and 15400 at scale with driver inside. Everything is fine as far specs on the truck and the work I'll be doing, I just have second thoughts on that small ISM 410 since I was originally looking for the ISX.
Do you guys have any experience with these engines?baha Thanks this.
