You can only park there 6 hours? Well, I stopped in there last night about 8:00 & I seen a guy come around about 8:30 writing down licence plate numbers. I asked why. He said you can only park here 6 hours. I went in & asked the manager & she said it was a city ordinance. Since they arent techniclly a "truck stop" you can only park 6 hours. After that, they call a wrecker to come get you.

    Anyone else run into this?

That's some good information right there. I had considered that place a few times for staging prior to DFW arrival when arriving from the northeast. But it's good that it's there. It's a good place (location convenient for us with some shippers nearby) to scale or wait a bit between loads.

If its a city ordinance , is it a city employee holding the clipboard ?
Really , think about it , why would the " almost " a truck stop want to help ? And what logic came up with 6 hours ?

That was exactly my thoughts. I do not suspect that the city has an ordinance on how long you can park on private property.... and why would they? I suspect, since this place does a LOT of local business, like Coca Cola & UPS (there must be a UPS yard nearby there somewhere) etc, the property owners don't want trucks taking up too much time there. But like you, I cant figure out why six hours. If this is the case, why not one hour?

mesquite has been down that road before. Some of us old hands remember. It was a blight on the whole east side of Dallas.

Just be glad they permitted this "fuel stop" as it is. And when you think about it. Given the proximity to several hundred truckers, it would be filled 100% of the time with trucks while the driver was at home

Can you elaborate on that a bit? "Been down that road before". Mesquite really doesnt allow parking more than 6 hrs?

That maybe true but I aint saying they should allow dropped trailers. I'm just saying if they allow six hrs, why not 10 hrs?
On the other hand, if they dont want trucks parking for a lengthy time, why not restrict it to an hour... or 30 minutes. Just long enough to take the 30 minute break. If they can allow 6 hrs, they can allow 10 for that break? I mean... geezzzz. This just dont make any sense.

Makes zero sense...first time I saw it I thought it was bizarre. What's the point of 6 hours? Might as well limit it to an hour or make it a 10 hour limit...I drive for Ashley and our facility is right down the street so I'm in there a lot getting tacos...I have seen trucks there that appear to be parked overnight but then again I've also seen the lot half empty at 0200 so I believe they enforce it.

I'll be in there in a few hours to load up for my trip home to Houston so I'll ask

If I'm not mistaken the been "down that road before" might be referencing the old TA? That place was a hotbed of illegal activity

So I talked to the manager there and yes it is in fact the city of Mesquite who set the restriction and yes they do have to enforce it. She agreed it was dumb.

I wish we could just refuse to dliver any type of food to this smart ######## who make stupid rules to truckers (cause guess who bringing food to stores!) . They would change those rules in a matter of day. Dreams , dreams ....
