    I found this by Google.

it says that the dpf filter has used up its life. it needs to be changed or if it has been, the ash count has to be re set with the detroit program.

clearing the codes does nothing as the issue must be dealt with. once it is repaired, the code will go inactive and can be cleared.

    402.1  SPN 3720/FMI 15 - EPA07 - EPA10 - GHG14

Diesel Particulate Filter Has Reached the End of its Service Life

Replace DPF and perform the Ash Accumulator reset using DiagnosticLink® .

The DPF lamp will illuminate and code 3720/15 will log when the truck reaches the appropriate mileage interval. This fault indicates that the DPF needs to be replaced and the DPF Ash Accumulator Routine in DiagnosticLink must be completed. This routine can be found in the Actions drop-down menu and must be completed after the DPF has been replaced.

Cleaning accumulated ash from the DPF is a necessary part of vehicle maintenance and is a customer charge. The recommended service is to remove the DPF and replace with a reliabilt® Clean DPF. The reliabilt® Clean DPF has a parts warranty and the same cleaning interval as the original DPF.

NOTE: Using alternate cleaning methods may result in the cleaned DPF failing to reach the next Ash clean interval. The customer may experience damage to the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) or DPF assemblies as a result of alternate cleaning methods.

SPN 3720 is DPF ash load. FMI 15 means valid data, but above normal operating conditions least severe level. It means that your DPF needs to be cleaned. How many miles since you've cleaned it?

forgive the necrobump but this info is still presently relevant, the code itself is a reminder triggered only by mileage? the manual states you shouldn't do DPF maintenance until you get the code, mine just tripped at 608k, factory 1-box never been opened/cleaned.

I have the OTR service tool to clear the code, the code amounting to a windshield sticker reminder. i'm not sure the DPF even needs cleaned yet, no behavior change, zero requests for parked regens for years on end, no power loss, no decrease in fuel mileage.

when the DPF actually gets to need a cleaning, other codes should start appearing, pressure, temp, poor NOx etc? I've had none of that. gonna clear the code and give it a few weeks. truck burns zero oil and i'm interested to see how long a pampered factory fresh DPF actually lasts from new

Hey, I'm curious what happened with this? My 2018 Cascadia just triggered the same code right before 600k.
I'm weighing out options to just clean the filters by "baking" them. Of course when I talk to Freightliner they strongly discourage this.. They want to charge 6k for new filters.

I preemptively pulled the filters around 620k and got them cleaned (blow+bake+ultrasonic) and reinstalled because of this code, cost about $2k. never got any other codes except the "notification" timer one. the filters were only 40% soot restricted on the vacuum test.

"cleaned" filters lasted another 50k until I got a "SCR closed loop" permanent fault code. I got another 50k after that before truck went into 55mph derate for SCR closed loop, then 150 miles until 5mph derate and red STOP light. the original filters had become cracked after the cleaning process and had been passing soot into the SCR for a year, visible black on the exhaust pipe. should only see white ash.

new oem filters and new sensors to the tune of basically $10k, and SCR conversion efficiency back at .99... that's lucky i guess. if scr had been soiled it would have been about $15k for a new 1-box. new filters are $2k, if your cores are not cracked. if i had spent $2k on new filters instead of $2k on the cleaning process I'd have saved $10k in triage. but u know all this isn't in the cascadia manual now is it.

truck centers inc won't charge you $6k for new DPF filters, they have a lot of convenient locations, and they have a handy 2-hour diagnostic dogma from check-in to "here's the deal". filters are $2k for 2 if the cores are good, $3k if not, and the only way it's gonna be more than $1k more in labor for that job is if all the sensors are goopy from soot and it takes hours and hours to coax them all to come out of their little toasty damaged threads. if you replace the filters before the truck gets tuberculosis the sensors won't be goopy in the first place.
