Guys, it's time to replace drive rubbers on my old Pete. I need Yours help in my decision between 295 75 22.5( on my rig now) and 255 70 22.5. It's will be change fuel economy, and how much RPM will increase for traveling speed(65-70 mph) ? 13 sp eaton and 3.55 or 3.53 rears( sorry forgot exactly, truck 20 ml away from me)
From 295 80 22.5 to 255 70 22.5?

Well you wont get the mileage out of 255's that you will with the 295's.
You have to also consider that it will drop the stinger 2 inches closer to the road if the truck came with tall rubber originally. To answer your orginal question though yes it will hurt your fuel mileage. If it were my truck with those rears and came with tall rubber I would put them back on for some of the reasons I already said.Speedloader Thanks this. -
Do you have a button to inflate your drive axle air bags to raise the truck 4 inches to get over stuff, an overlift? Another tire choice may be a 275x70R22.5 It is used on the front for car haulers, 16 ply and between the sizes of 295 and 255 Not cheap, priced at Loves and was over 700.00. I have never seen them used as drive tires.
