Why would anyone buy a Freightliner Sportchassis or the equivalent International when you can buy a new fully loaded semi for the same price? They both are around $120k loaded up so why?
Can someone or anyone answer that? It doesn't make full sense to me!
Thanks Jason

More money than brains?
Actually, the Sportchassis (and its ilk) are targeted towards farmers, ranchers, people with big motorhomes (and men with small "equipment"), etc. They're built more for comfort and multiple passengers rather than freight hauling. They compete primarily in the class 4 to class 7 categories ... most OTR semis are class 8.

Yeah but why not get a true class 8? Same price and it is a much better rig.

For the target market of the Sportchassis, a class 8 is overkill and completely unnecessary. The Sportchassis is smaller, lighter, waaaaay more comfortable, better on fuel, more manouverable, etc. All the things that are more desireable/required for that market segment.Big Duker Thanks this. -
Thanks for clarifying. Thats what I needed. -
The Sportchassis are also crewcabs with seating for 5 and easy access to the back seat . Totally different vehicle .
