I have a 2006 freightliner business class m2-106 with the 6.4 litre mercedes benz engine. At 220,000 miles the camshaft lobe in the 2nd cylinder wore down to the point were the piston was dead. the warranty was over at 200,000 and the dealer said there was nothing they could do. i am now facing $11,000 in repairs and hoping that someone else has had some luck with fighting detroit deisel with thier warranty or if someone else has had this problem before. all help is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

the 6.4 L Mercedes engine is OM 906LA. it is of pushrod designe. They usually use roller type valve lifters and if roller is stuck camshaft lobe will be worn.
Well, this engine is very popular in UK and try to look for camshaft form Mercedes Atego ore from buses... it is not a big problem to find used OM 906 camshaft in Europe. It is not heavy for shipping, about 15 kg.... (not sure).
How to change... yep, you cant do it in frame, becouse of timing gear location, so pull out engine first. -

Ask for Axor/Atego OM906 camshaft.
P/S. You cant use all the parts on US version of 906, like PLD unit pumps, ECM and engine mounts. All other internal parts are interchangable.
What HP rating of your engine? 230/240/270/280 HP? -
example of valve lifter fault and damaged camshaft.
