Hi
I have 2 Freightliner Argosys one with a Cummins isx the other with a 14L detoit
The Argosy with the 14L detoit is governed at 80km/h about 49mph running at 1400rpm at that speed
I'm getting 3.9 mpg pulling 56 ton gvm about 120000lbs
Would running the truck at 1500 to 1550 rpm give me better fuel consumption, would then be running at 90kph about 55 to 57 mph
18 speed eaton fuller
4.81 diff ratios
Freightliner Argosy speed governed

So you must run it against the governor before shifting and then wind up at 1100-1150 after a shift?Bean Jr. and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
Thanks for the feedback
I'll definitely take the truck to the work shop and have it derestrictedOxbow Thanks this. -
Why not run it a gear or 2 lower at 80 km/h first and see how it performs?
I'm assuming the reason the RPM is low is because of the ground speed restriction and running in top gear. I've never heard of any engine being limited to 1400 RPM. Most big diesels are governed to 2100-ish. -

Two questions is the other truck better on fuel ? And is 80 km/hr the country’s governed speed for your combination. The 14 litre engine was never good on fuel without tweaks pulling 100 k for me at 120k I suspect 3.9 us mpg is normal for it.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
The Detroit powered Argosy is electronically restricted to 80km/h so it revs out in lower gears getting about 3.9mpg
The Cummins isx powered Argosy is restricted at 95km/h and gets about 4.4mph with the best being 4.7mpg
This is my first Detroit powered truck , I was told that they can get better fuel consumption then a usx CumminsAttached Files:

Yes 80 km/h is our speed for suck a truck.
There is a 10% grace so you can push it to 88km/h
