Freightliner ABS light

    I recently had the tractor ABS light start to flash. Its not a solid light, it flashes intermittently. And the RAC failure warning came on twice. This doesn't happen all the time, sometimes days in between, then it happens for a few minutes and stops. I noticed it happens more often on long downhill.
    I've cleaned the abs sensors on the steer axle, checked wiring the best that I could without pulling it all apart, and checked the battery connections.
    Any more ideas? Without having to remove the wheels on the drives or changing the ABS module.

    1st idenify the system (most likely Wabco or Bendix). Do you have a ABS diagnostic switch? Sometime Freightliner puts them down by the data link plug, some in under the bunk next to the ABS ECU. A year of the truck would help narrow down what version ABS you have as well.

    Hey thank you GrapeApe, good thing you reminded me about that switch I think I've seen one in that compartment next to the driver seat. Do you know if there is an ABS relay too?

    Truck is an 07 Century, I'll talk to the local dealership to see if they know which model ABS

    SID 231 with FMI 9 is an issue with the J1939 data link communications between the engine and ABS. Typically a wiring issue and it could be anywhere the data link runs. That code will disable traction and stability controls.

    I'm not familiar with your truck, so I don't know of any common places to look. The ABS usually has a separate plug for the data link close to the ECU. It'll be a 2 wire plug with yellow and green wires. Check that it is clean and making good connections. You'd find that same type of plug near the engine as well as several other places around the truck.

    That data link also has 2 terminating resistors that are 120 ohms each. Total data link resistance should be 60 ohms.

    Can you help me sir ,
    Actually I have buy Freightliner Cascadia 2014 model 4 month ago . My concern with that my truck ABS light not working . When I switch the key and check ALL lights working fine but ABS tractor light not flashing or working and no fault code on dashboard . I also changed new ABS module . You have any idea that what a exact problem?
