Won't make it many years if you just look at loadboards to justify your operation.
Loadboards are just that- Overflow volume- Lanes nobody wants-Last Minute Loads etc.
That freight you see on loadboards has already been gone over by regular carriers...........Do you really want to operate like that?
get yourself at least your own outbound freight- Use the Boards to get back.DieselDrivinDaddy, HopeOverMope, gokiddogo and 1 other person Thank this. -
Winter came in early this year, this is flatbed's normal slow down. @stayinback has it right, you need to find directs. I've got them both ways I actually brokered my first load on Tuesday in two years. Couldn't bring myself to deadhead 322 miles back to the yard, after my reload fell through. It has been up and down in flatbed since July, but I'm not to worried yet.

It is true about the crumbs ! I still rather eat crumbs than work for someone else unless money is much much better.I feel better working load boards than when I was leased on. What else can a man do...? Saying "find a direct" or " befriend three or four honest and loyal brokers" is a cliche, might as well say "go out there and make good money". Ability to do that testifies to the character of a man.

If you are working the spot market freight, it could get tough going into 2019. At least that is what I read in an article the other day on one of the load boards.

We're both booked until December 31st.
I'll let you know when I slow down. I will take my truck down for a week or two the first and second weeks of January though for some needed PM. That should free you up a few loads. -

Even if you're working the board don't you make contacts and ask if it's regular freight? Then the next time you are aligning near that load again call and ask the same guy if he wants to do a repeat load? Do that enough and you end up working the same lanes over and over. Or does the same load price really change week to week, day to day?
