I remember mention somewhere of a free app or two that work great with Quickbooks for uploading receipts. That was a couple of months ago, before I needed that info. Anyone using Quickbooks here, how do you upload your receipts?

I used TinyScanner for Android for receipts, BOL/POD and uploaded to a Google Drive folder. You take a pic with your smartphone. The app converts the pic to PDF. It's pretty simple & free.

Just set quickbooks up to receive emails. You snap a pic of the item and send it via email. It will pull all the info for you most of the time.

I'm still using QB on my lap top. Version 2013. I'd like to update to online but my accountant says no. Does any body use it and how well does it work?

We converted to online from desktop. We have an excavating company and need to be able to format invoices specific to a project. The online version would not allow us to do that. It was good for entering receipts and time from your phone, but limited on what could be done elsewhere.

When we converted initially we lost data, and I had to go through and re-reconcile everything. Then the same thing happened when we switched back to the desktop version.

For trucking alone I think the online version would work well and be quite convenient, but beware when you try to convert from desktop to online. I suspect that is what the accountant was concerned about. I don't know if creating a hard backup outside of the Quickbooks system, and then opening a new QB online account and importing from the backup would avoid the data loss, but it was a nightmare converting from one to another. This was several years ago so they may have addressed the issue since, but it would not be worth the risk to me.

Awesome, tha ks for the info. If I do it it would be after year end so maybe just import numbers, keep a back up file of the previous years? I'll have to chat with him again. At the very least I need a new laptop and a new installed version.

I would just in case. Perhaps do 2021 taxes and all data on desktop, then start fresh with 2022 on the new laptop and online version.

I was using QB Pro 2011. Switched to online and love it although I hate Intuit as a company. It's very intuitive especially coming from QB already, upload receipts, link bank accounts, set up rules for repeat transactions and I can access it from anywhere, any computer.

I use the QB app (android) to snap picture then QB extracts all the information. If you are talking about taking pictures of anything and converting to .pdf then I use Adobe Scan.
