Frame stretch

    Does anyone know a company or shop where I can get a frame extension? 2012 cascadia. About 4 feet so I can carry a bigger tool box and my motorcycle behind my sleeper. Around Florida would be the best,but I can take the truck anywhere. Thanks.

    What part of FL.?
    Had mine done by Tampa Frame & Spring. The one in Bradenton closest to my house.. Did a nice job. Only issue is they painted the new steel pretty thin. Might want to ask them to add an extra coat or 3..

    Pricing might be slightly different as I run a single drive tractor..
    They told me it generally cost $100 per inch. I asked for a slightly longer sleeve than they normally use. I want to say they overlap the joint 36", but I got 48" over lap for extra peace of mind. Quoted $4k for a 36" stretch & they delivered on the quote..

    They were slow. Told me 1 week. Was there for 2 weeks..

    For what it's worth, I've been advised on a tandem tractor the easiest stretch length is add however many inches the drive spread is. Then the forward axle re uses the already drilled rear axle holes. Only have to drill through the sleeve on that one. Saves a bit of labor time..

    American Frame & Axle on Causeway blvd in Tampa is another one that does stretch jobs. He was a little more expensive, & just seemed easier for me to have it done 8 miles from home instead of 40 miles..

    I believe there are some shops in Orlando as well if you dont want to come all the way across i4.. I hate 4. Just do a search for frame, spring, axle shop. Quite a few do them..

    Funny you mentioned that.
    So my truck was cut 36" from original wheelbase to be a toter truck at one point. I think that's what it's called when they pull mobile homes from a hydraulic bumper mount ball hitch..?
    Anyhow @174" was about 9100lb on the steer half tanks fuel.
    Now back @210" is about 9700lb on steer half tanks fuel..

    I find it odd that they would price it by the inch. It cost about the same to stretch a foot or 2 feet. Only difference is a little material, the work is the same.

    You know, I've been stumped on this too.? Always thought of it more like a price gouge on a guy wanting a long fancy large car. Mine was the only tractor in the shop. The others were mixers, dumps, trash, deck, more vocational type trucks..

    Maybe that "generally $100 an inch", is because they are expecting to run the liner full frame length, drill many more holes for steer, pusher axles, add in another u-joint, extra carrier & intermediate shaft.? I'm really not all that mechanical, probably more to it I'm overlooking..

    So if you consider they are more used to quoting vocational type of equipment, does that make any sense? Or could it just be a pretty truck price gouge.?

    tell them you want a 2” stretch and youll know pretty quick.

    Probably kinda like concrete job. Was quoted $11 square ft without them even coming to look at the job.
    Asked another contractor and he said the same thing. This is for a driveway kinda job.

    I imagine there is a minimum. Think he might of said 10 yards?
