the place appears to be a dump initially and to most it may very well be if judged entirely by the parking lot. Clean inside, very friendly staff, and still had the effects of an old school truck stop even though pilot bought it,and that is not necessarily a negative thing.I enjoyed it.NO smoking allowed inside which i appreciated so not too old school.
THANKS to the driver(and the fuel desk guy) that gave me a shower off his card.I was about to use accumalated points as i don't typically fuel at pilots. This was thursday morning,6/7. This reminded me of the old days when that's what drivers did for each other, well before truckstops had the cards to swipe, and the guy behind the fuel desk didn't flinch.Just ran his card and gave me the shower.
If I pull another load of baled scrap aluminum to New Haven,In.and it looks like the load is going to be frequent,I will fuel there again.I took on 70 gallons before departing thursday morning just because they worked with me and didn't make me put a cash deposit and whatever down pre-shower.Did not even ask to hold my card while i showered.Sure the 70 gallons helped me get out of ohio and down to Florence,Ky to load and then beyond but that is not the point.
The truck stop earned my business after another driver passed it on.I always pass it on when possible and hope ALL drivers do,and that passing it on should not be limited to giving showers away.Passing it on is applicable in soo many ways pertaining to drivers working with other drivers-

How many strip clubs are next to that place? 2 or 3? Lol!

dog gone you drivers have too much time on your idle hands while idling! I saw the one strip club directly across the street from the pilot as i was buying my ONE hot beer from the citgo which i had to place in my fridge to get cold enough to drink later w/my subway. That's right-the place could only sell hot beer so as to not be in direct competition w/the strip club by selling alcohol.at least that is the way the clerk explained it to me.Then the $1.89 hot beer turned into a $2.45 hot beer after taxes.I shudder to think what the strip club prices would have been.
Regardless, the truck stop was a very pleasant experience overall as in clean, having all the basic necessities, and actually working w/a driver. I'll spend my money there again and that is not typical for me and pilot truckstops. -
the restaurants not bad either.

That's my hometown truck stop. You can see my rusty old sonoma pickup truck in the bullpen there. I think they are a Pilot franchisee and not owned by Pilot. (something like that) You'll notice all the dropped trailers in the back lot. It's a decent stop with a good staff.
