A hotspot can get pricey (I had a recruiter recommend this) but I've seen YouTube videos that promote a WiFi booster that is a one time price? Any personal experiences out there of which is a better bet?
For reliant internet is a WiFi booster than a hotspot?

I had a hotspot for a limited time when I was first running OTR 5 years ago. They're redundant at best, and a waste of money at worst. Most smartphones nowadays can be used as personal hotspots, so there's no need to buy a separate one unless you have multiple people using it at once.
A WiFi/Signal booster would probably be more useful to you, especially in areas where service is sporadic or spotty. Lot of those out west. I wouldn't spend the money on one until I knew for a fact that it would benefit me. Where I run nowadays there's very few places where I haven't been able to get service. If you do get one, make sure you get one that's compatible with your phone and service provider.RussianBearTruckeR Thanks this. -

Wi-Fi is almost useless at truck stops. The best setup I have found is Verizon. Because they have the most coverage. It usually pretty fast. Straight Talk at Walmart has pretty good deal $55 for unlimited talk and texted and 60GB of hight speed internet. All on your phone. I never really tried using phone as HOT SPOT. So Straight Talk might not let that work. I don't think they can tell because you can Bring Your Own Phone to Staright Talk. You just need a phone that has Verizon bands and SIM card from Straight Talk. You can get any phone company you want on Straight Talk you just need a phone that has the antennas. I got a cheap MotoG phone because it come with every antenna on the phone. So I can run Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile. Not sure about Sprint. I don't think Straight Talk has deal with Sprint. So you probably can't get on the Sprint side. Straight Talk sell a SIM card kit.
