Still trying to figure my foot valve issue. New foot valve but still feels like trailer not stopping well. Tractor protection valve on back of sleeper was not working correctly so i removed and cleaned and got it working but i wonder if its still not working at max performance because i still am not stopping well and back pressure building in footvalve. Would the trac/ pro valve being bad cause this

What valve on tractor controls the trailer stopping as well as the tractor?

B17F662B-C8C9-4A3E-BCD4-C0E38FF031CA.jpeg There are multiple valves in the system. Without looking for a specific diagrams for your truck/ trailer this is how all brakes systems work. The only differences is where the valves are located and which valves have been merged together. Like with Freightliner the tractor protection valve has multipe valves incorporated like the double check valve and I think another. And most anti compounding valves are incorporated into the service brake release valves.

I took the steel rod off pedal. No corrosion. I guess they’re referring to the plunger the rod sits in. Looks to Me I need to remove brake valve from firewall Looks like a 2” space between valve snd firewall. Is this the treadle valve? Is that the plunger others are referring to have cleaned and applied anti seize to? I couldn’t see any way of removing it from under dash. It sits flush, has hole in center for pushrod. My apologies if this makes no sense. Brakes stick , need to be jabbed to get system to purge air and release. Cleaned what I could and sprayed on blaster. Working better now, still occasional sticking. What threw me last night is when they stuck using trolly bar also.

I pulled rod off it came out but wasn’t corroded at all. I sanded the ball shaped end and put antisieze on end, re installed. Is there a “ plunger “ inside of valve, that rod goes into? Or are you referring to plunger as the rod attached to brake pedal

Yes, and also yes the foot valve unbolta from the front of the firewall on classics and I think also the Columbia/ Coronado. It may not be a road repair, so the next time your home, take the valve off. And start working it over on the bench. If you still can’t get it to work freely get the snap ring pliers out and start CAREFULLY taking it apart till you find the culprit clean it up and put it back together. Good as new.
