This my first post so pardon me if it's not in the correct area. I don't drive a truck but I do spend about 40,000 miles a year behind the wheel and occasionally I'll see what looks like a cast aluminum ladder or steps that are mounted on the rear of a flatbed trailer. They look like they can be folded down to use and then flipped back up when not in use. I'd really like to find out where they come from and who makes them. Anyone here know what I'm talking about?
Fold down step/ladder?

hmm never heard of anything like that on a trailer. next time you get a chance take a photo of it for us. or if you can find the maker of the trailer's Tag on the trailer just call them. As for me I use the folding ladder from home depot that folds in 4 different spots so I can have a 16 ft ladder or 8 foot ladder or even just a small step which eveh I may need. Plus it is wide on the bottom to keep from tipping as easily. I think it is about 75 to 90 dollars for one like mine.

Saw a guy had one. It mounted to the rubrail of his flatbed. Dont know who makes them, but I have seen them sold on those online flatbed/crane rigging supply stores.

Talking about a normal short aluminum ladder with some hooks on it?

I saw a set of these steps on a Reitenouer(sp?) trailer a few weeks ago. I called them up and they said they don't offer steps on their trailers so it must have been an aftermarket add-on. Thanks for the replies so far!
These steps were actually mounted between the rear bumper and the ICC bar. (If that helps) -
I can't remember the name of the company, but they pretty much designed the step because the Reitinouer is such a pain to climb onto. The steps are made by a aftermarket company and I will try to find a name here shortly. You are correct that the steps are mounted on the rear of the trailer in between the frame rails and just above the ICC bumper. The steps also have a hatch that flips over top to give the user the whole width and length of the trailer for use if they wish.

I think you are refering to a set of fold up ramps for loading vehicles, etc. they aren't ladders.
