Fog lights, by definition, should be used only when it's foggy. They are mounted low to shine under the fog. I have fog lights on my Ford 4x4 for over five years now. Turned them on for the very first time last week. If it's not foggy, turn them off. If they're properly adjusted, they aren't blinding oncoming drivers in a fog, so leave them on if you like.

If you need them to drive you shouldn't be driving.

Well my truck doesn't have driving lights. My Jeep on the other hand will blister your paint if you fail to dim your lights. I'll go to high beams AND hit you with 600 watts of KC Daylighters. Last clown that didn't dim when I flashed the brights changed his mind when I reached for the rocker switches on the KC's.

Whatever you wish to call any light on the front of a car or truck is fine with me.
Just aim the darn things down on the ground and not up in the air in peoples eyes!
Never will I figure out what is so hard about adjusting lights so they are useful and not blinding other drivers. But most only can hit the On Switch, and after that they are totally clueless. -
fog lights ought to be hooked to the engine ECM, and whenever they are on the vehicle should not be able to go over 45mph. If you need them, slow down. If it isn't bad enough to drive slow, or there is oncoming traffic, turn them off.

The proper adjustment of fog lights, that come on with low beam, is 8 inches for every 25 ft. Personally I can not understand why people drive in the day time with driving lights on. Also when it is reduced visibility and the vehicle coming towards you has 4 lights on you can not see past that vehicle. Lots of people that are on the road are blinded and more likely to steer towards the light.
If you have 4 lights on I turn on my high beams, I worked at a truck dealership and had a guy come in with the AC condenser leaking someone threw a bottle at him. Personally I have called the company of trucks that run stupid bright lights. -
But it's illegal to use fog lights other than inclement weather in TN. Maybe more states have laws too.
