Just wondering if anyone knows how that grill screen is installed.
It did not have one when I bought the truck and I don't see any hardware for installing it.

Mine is attached on the inside of hood/grill with cable ties. Was that way when I bought the truck.

I believe they fit right behind the grille and are held on with the grille screws. Thats how my ‘85 coe and ‘99 FL60 was.
The holes sometimes tear out after time from the constant push of wind and the screen will start to fall out.Rideandrepair and Dino soar Thank this. -
Did they tie it actually to the grill or did they tie it inside like drill a hole or something?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Your grill holds it in place...

I think I'm going to try the cable ties.
By the time I start breaking out those rusty old screws for the grill I'm gonna have more problem than it's worth.
But freightliner sent me a screen that the sides are coming apart on it so I have to get another one.
Do they have screens like that at home depot or something?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Here is an interesting one.
It has 14 turn buckles on it I assume for cable ties?

Original ones are riveted on the back side of the grill. You can take the 4 nuts off, remove grill. Drill out old aluminum rivets,(very easy to do). Use SS sheet metal screws with small washers, in place of the rivets. I replaced the screen, with screen from Home Depot, near the chicken wire. It’s about 1/4” square, twice the size of original screen. I doubled it up, offset,it to get a finer screening effect. Might want to buy 4 new bushing/ bolts for grill, before trying to remove it. The rubber bushing, that the bolts molded into, will probably break. You can climb up in there, and do it in place. Might be tough though. I’ve done both my Freightliners this way. $20, vs. dealers original screen for an outrageous price.
