I drove one for over 1 million miles. I think they are great allot of folks don't like them i love them. I just bought a 1997 single axle to pull my Toy hauler with. Its a flat top and a small sleeper but that's what i wanted. My 1996 had a 430 470 detroit wit ha 13 speed and 3.73 rears and ran great and rode fine it wasn't any noiser than any other truck as far as i could tell and over the life of the truck when i sold it we pulled the ecm records out and it averaged 6.3 MPG and i did allot of ideling so they are pretty fuel effeciant.

Depending on who had the truck, it'll likely be rough riding and noisy. Every one of them I've ever driven had a lot of wind and engine noise coming in the cab. Then again, I don't think I've ever driven any model Freightliner that wasn't that way. As to quality? Well those trucks seem to hold up pretty good with proper maintenance.

Thanks guys, I really like the cab it's simple and not real cramped like some trucks I have drove,

The doors can be leaky, the cab might or might not be tight, They are ok, and they are predictable when driving them, not too soft a ride.
Keep the axles aligned and use balancers or have wheels balanced, and the ride and comfort is ok. The sleeper has a HVAC unit in the bunk, and when that is working right, the comfort in the bunk is very good. Parts are plentiful and repairs are accomplished more easily than on the Century and Columbia class trucks unless you get a FLD !!2, then you get the engine shoved back farther into the cab.
There is the Classic, with a forward axle in 120 and 132 inch BBC configurations, but the most common is the setback axle FLD 120.
I like not having a cabinet too close behind the driver's seat, but if you want the built in refrigerator, that cabinet is going to be there. That is mostly in the 70 inch sleeper, smaller sleepers seldom have the built in.promodrod Thanks this. -
I used to drive a flat top '95 FLD112 which is the same as the 120 but with a shorter hood. It was the best riding truck i ever drove and i've drove allot of trucks. It also didn't rattle at all in the cab but there was some wind noise. The worst thing about any FLD is the doors. on all the FLDs i ever drove there was something wrong with the doors. My passenger side door wouldn't even open and another driver i know has to use his winch bar and reach out his window to get out his truck.

My main concern is to obtain the code readers and software to properly maintain the engine. Seeing the last owner kept all the manuals ""UGH"",promodrod Thanks this.
