hey guys, just looking to buy a truck trailer combo, (recently applied for own authority) not sure if I want to go with a regular skateboard, stepdeck, or RGN. Just wanted to get some input on what kinds of rates you guys are getting and how many empty miles you guys are driving for the different types of trailers. How many miles per week ect... anything you can tell me would be helpful

Rates are $1-$300 per mile, empty miles 0-1000.
Not a smart ### post, just telling you the truth

While you’re at it Blair what’s your truck payment and the contact at your best customers?

Not like that, I know I’m going to run Midwest, just trying to figure out my math. I want to get a heavy haul truck. But trying to figure if I can afford a new one. I’ve leased before. I worked in construction for 5 years pulling all types of flatbed, step deck, low boy, and skateboard. but my OTR experience is with Reefer, and I’m not a fan of the kites

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

You’re asking fairly person questions from strangers. They have a business to protect and usually aren’t to interested in sharing things like that. I believe you are who and what you say you are but what if you’re not?

I tend to agree with @johndeere4020 on this subject. I understand what the OP is trying to do but asking the question the way you are can get very personal to alot of Owner Operators. I am super picky about who I share my rates with. I have found that keeping my financial info to myself is the best way for me to operate. I have a total of 3 O/O's that I share info with and the only reason I do is because we all run different lanes and different parts of the country.

My suggestion to the OP Is to look at DAT Freight Rates for the averages nationwide and then search for available freight in the part of the country that you want to operate in so you have a general idea of what you are getting into and not flying blind.

There are several free load boards available where you can research rates and move forward from there.

It is not always easy getting started and generating revenue but I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.
