I just visited a buddy of mine that I served in the navy with. Don't worry we weren't navy seals. We did apply though and they said we were too bad ### so we just worked on planes instead. (Just kidding about the seal stuff but not being bad ### or working on planes)
Anyways he actually died while aboard ship and they brought him back but he has brain damage from it. It was really inspiring to see him smile today as I told his mom and sister about some of our crazy antics back then and the meaning for the tattoo that he gave me. So I want to honor him in someway.
I've been wanting to fly a flag from the truck for awhile now so I'm going to do that. I want to fly a small US flag and a Navy flag. I drive a company truck so I can't modify anything. I have 2 ideas.
1 is to just get cheap stick flags and tape them to my cb antennas. Would look cheap though and not sure how well it would hold up.
2 I saw some motorcycle mounts in the interwebz and I'm wondering if they might have one that would fit a mirror frame.
What do you think about my ideas? How have you flown flags? Have you ever seen a mount that would work on a mirror frame?
Truck is a 2015 international prostar. Thanks.

I fly flags every year for 9/11.
I put them in the rub rails on a flatbed. At the end of the day. They're mostly shredded. -
I was looking on an online flag store and they advertise flags built to withstand highway speeds. I was thinking of mounting a pole to my pipe stakes but Iay not be pulling this skateboard much longer if my company gets a contract they're working on so it needs to mount to the tractor.

That's a great idea Chewy. And Kudos to you for supporting him. And thanks for your service.
Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Good. Get those vinyl decal flags and stick them on the truck. I did that and they were just like new even after a few year. Can take them off without any paint damage.
I had 3 on my truck on each side; had them on the sleeper. Had a Navy flag, American flag, Chinese Communist Party flag. The mechanics and terminal manager went berserk and ripped the commie flag off. I gave them that innocent pious stare and said, "Why did you do that?" I never did tell them it wasn't a commie flag, but they felt like heros with their chests puffed out, so I just let them live in their glory.
I flunked out of SEAL training because I couldn't balance a ball on my nose; of course being a hashmark E-3 didn't help my case.Last edited: Oct 11, 2015
Numb, TheJrodTest, Ougigoug and 1 other person Thank this. -
Flags don't last on a truck, that's why mine is inside the truck right beside my bible.
RockinChair and drdesl Thank this. -
I 've seen some that were held on with zip ties onto a handle on the baack of the cab. The flag flew nicely between the truck and trailer and you really saw it when you were going down the road. Didn't seem to hinder visibility at all.

Flag etiquette.. look, learn, obey.. any misuse of the flag (to include shoddy displays) are not proper use of the flags. Do it right, or don't do it at all
Annie Oakley, spindrift, Numb and 4 others Thank this. -
I used to put Canadian flags on my CB antennas (Wilson Trucker ones with long shaft) but the wind just eats them up.. Sure it takes some time, but once they are tattered it's not long before the flag is not much of anything... So I decided to just get a single larger one, and I attached it to my air-line pogo stick... The flag is still flying and isn't torn... I think with having it between truck/trailer it's not in direct wind from driving highway speeds... So I would suggest between truck/trailer and zip tie it to a airline pogo stick or cab grab bar (or anything you can attach it to easily without modifying the truck)

This.
I too used to ziptie to my CB antennas, (co-phased, so had dual ants. Had US on driver side, Confederate battle flag on starboard side). They looked good for about 1 to 1 1/2 months, then they would start to rip and they were toast within a day or so.
Ended up with a new gig (who sort of frowned on the rebel flag) and now have a 2' x 3' US flag ziptied to the grab bar behind the cab just below the roof where the line/hose holder springs are attached.CanadianVaquero Thanks this.
