Central FL to Flemington NJ is a regular run for us. If you can hit North VA/DC at late night/early am then I 95 is the way to go. If it's rush hour or weekend, 301 to 50 from Ruther Glen is a pretty easy ride. Plenty of 60 mph roads and flowing traffic when you hit the towns.
Unless there is an accident, Philly traffic isn't that bad as most of the construction is done. 295 to rte 31 and done.
I'm a company driver with EZ pass so have no idea about tolls. I wouldn't take 81 because of hills loaded at 78K ish and all the traffic.
FL to Jersey I95 or 81?

This is the way I would go. Did up till 2013 when I quit New Century. I hate that road but it is the best route if you run at night.

If it’s only tolls your concerned with and you can do the late nite ride
You can run 83n outta Baltimore...30 east from York....222 north from Lancaster up to 78 then east to 31s
Only adds bout 30 miles more or less and no tolls -
Not concerned with the tolls just the traffic and time
-
I took the 95 route on the way up I was loaded late and was concerned with the traffic i would be in on the way up it took 19:15 to go 932 miles avg speed of 48.42 mph due to bad timing and running with the traffic. On the way back down it took 18:45 min to travel 1194.7 miles and averaged 63.71 mph leaving at 12:30 am on I95
Redtwin Thanks this. -
Depends what and where your going. Heavy and overnight and willing to pay tolls, or some tolls?
95 all the way, all the tolls,
Night, less tolls, 95 take 495 to 95 up thru Philly, 295 to 195, turnpike to exit 10 287, not sure where your going from there. Run this in the day and its Russian roulette as far as traffic.
No tolls, 17 before washington, 66, 81
Or, if you get to washington at the right time 495, 270, 15 up to Harrisburg, 83 to 81, then 78 to wherever your going.
Use to run this every week for years and these were my options for the most part. If I was farther south and fairly light I would sometimes make my way, thru various means to 26, 77,81, I'd do 84 across to New England then 495, 95.
I HATE the tolls and when fuel was cheaper I'd ALWAYS go around as every US $ is $1.30+ to me. Made a difference.
EDIT, DONT TAKE THE 1 FROM THE 295 IN JERSEY TO 287, NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE. B@$/@&DS
