Hello, I have a flatbed that has some holes in the wooden deck. It's an older flatbed so I don't want to spend too much on it. I just want it to last another year.
can I put Home Depot pressurized wood down? Is it strong enough?
What at do you recommend for a cheap repair of wood.
THANKS

Home Depot pressure treated lumber is soft wood. You need to have hard wood for a flatbed deck.

But! Steel coils are very heavy, and we are talking about placing all that weight in one small area. If you are not hauling coils, you MIGHT be able to get away with pressurized lumber. I would definitely talk to a trailer repair shop and see what they say about it before I went out and spent a bunch of money on wood that I can't use. -
Hardwood only. Find a sawmill have it cut to what you need.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -

When I repair a deck, if it is going to have heavy weight, use oak wood. Have one trailer that only hauls palletized freight, and I us 5/4 decking on it. The same stuff used to build a back yard deck.

Thanks guys, so nothing a local Home Depot would work Ie. 2x8 etc?

The only hardwood I recall seeing at HD is oak trim and boards for shelving etc. Most of that is high grade and only 1" .

I always used apitong from fleetpride. using mix matched wood creates a trip hazzard. I am also seriously thinking about getting a new trailer in march & trying to keep mine patched until then. I still find the quickest & best way is with original, or just replace trailer sooner. to reinforce my deck until I could get the supplies & time to fix, I would cut treated 2 by 4 into 11-1/2" length & put 2 under several sections of the weak parts of the floor between the crossmembers & use wood screws from the top & self tapping metal screws from the bottom. this way no matter how bad the decking is, it has no where it can go. I will try & post a pic of what I am trying to describe
