    After 2 1/2 years of driving, I finally got a load to NYC (Brooklyn). The address is 1425 37th St, just off 14th ave. It looks like the easiest way is across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge then make my way over to 14th Ave.

    My one concern is that 53 foot trailers aren't allowed in NYC, and not on the VN Bridge when going to and from Long Island. Has anyone gotten a ticket for this?

    You can go to NYC all day long with a 53 just stay out of lower Manhattan.

    Also ignore the height signs on the expressways and don't get on a parkway !

    In NYC and parts of NJ a 12'8" overpass really means it's 13'8". Was told something to do with winter snowpack.

    I used to do Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Long Island with a 379 and a 53 footer. You'll be fine.

    Bridges are typically marked one foot lower than actual, but if it says 12' 6", you'll want to ease up to it and hang your head out to look.

    Stay off anything that says Parkway.

    This will show you all the truck routes and low bridges in NYC...

    White signs are actual height. Yellow signs are with snow pack.

    You can go to Long Island on the designated routes, just not the NYC part of Long Island, legally speaking.

    ABOUT NYSDOT > FAQS > ARE 53-FOOT LONG TRAILERS ALLOWED TO MAKE PICK-UPS OR DELIVERIES IN NEW YORK CITY?
    Are 53-foot long trailers allowed to make pick-ups or deliveries in New York City?
    Per Section 385 of the Vehicle & Traffic Law, a 53-foot trailer is allowed only limited travel through New York City to reach destinations on Long Island, using the following routes:

    • I-95 - from Bronx/Westchester County line to I-295;
    • I-295 - from I-95 to Throgs Neck Bridge to the Long Island Expressway (I-495)
    • I-495 - from I-295 to Queens/Nassau County line
    53-foot long trailers are not allowed to make pick ups or deliveries in any of the boroughs of New York City.

    I used to go in and out of NYC a lot, all with a 53' box. Brooklyn and Queens a lot. Over the Manhattan bridge to Canal in Manhattan then over to the Westside hwy. Did it early am. Too late and the law would get you at Canal and write you up. My companies attitude was that the fines were just a part of doing business in the city.
